This is why I don’t have cable tv anymore...I can get info to LIVE...plus be thoroughly entertained by channels like y’all’s! Anyone who gave this video a thumbs down must be a real NUT! 😆 Loved this video. Thanks Kevin and Sarah!!!
So, I assume from the fact that you guys were eating the nuts as fast as you cracked them, that your daughters still have never tasted hickory nuts. Too bad. Looks like another reason not to attend the public school system to me. LOVE THE VIDEO!!! Still grinning from ear-to-ear. Thanks. IT WAS A GREAT WAY TO START MY MORNING!
I'm so used to seeing the practical, teaching side of you guys that you took me off guard. I was laughing and guffawing so, that my husband wanted to know what I was watching! Thank you for starting my day off well 😄
Oh my! I woke him up by laughing while watching you guys! Love it! And you guys eating them as fast as cracking them! Thank you you starting my day off right!
I must admit, I laughed so hard during this video. I think I will have to watch it a second time. You two are really a great couple, knowledgeable, pleasant and overall entertaining. I absolutely love how you turn a challenging situation into a delightful, educational and entertaining video. Thanks again
This was hilarious! Thank you for the big belly laughs and for making my evening! I love the charm and the energy of your channel. What a beautiful family! God bless you all xoxo
I don’t know how you filmed that with a straight face. You guys crack me up 😂🤣 😂 My belly hurt so bad from laughing!!!! I haven’t laughed that hard in awhile. The music was perfect!! I will definitely be sharing this on Facebook. That was awesome...well done!!!
You two are hilarious. And believable. Your gardens are real gardens that can feed you and yours for a long time. I'm happy to find someone that knows the value of preserving food. Thank goodness for honest hardworking people like you
Today is 9/11/2020 and I just watched this video. I didn’t want to go on fb or anywhere else today but knew you would have a safe place to land after a long day at work and remembering those who lost their lives and are still suffering from the events that happened on this day. Your video had me laughing and laughing and I just want you to know how much I appreciate you. Truly. Thank you!
I love your channel! The hickory nut crack was hilarious. Your “nut cracker” is an arbor press. As a blacksmith i use one all the time. Very good use of the press since it seem they can be strong as steel sometimes. Lol Thank you for your channel it is very nice to see your experience.
OK, that video was hysterical!!!!! The two of you standing by the road is picture perfect. And Kevin continuing to look down the road in the opposite direction of where any possible helpful vehicle would be driving was side splitting!
I have watched you guys for over two years, but just saw this video for the first time. It’s hilarious!!! Even more so knowing you two a little bit more. I howled laughing myself to tears. Love you both. I don’t even like nuts, but this is a classic.
Haha!! So funny! You guys are the best! Aren’t antiques the best!! I will take something old that actually works and stands the test of time over some of the junk they produce today! Glad you got your nuts cracked! 💕 have a good weekend!
Meeee too. I go to flea markets and garage sales looking for household things that I need. I have been thru about 6-8 can openers, new manuel and electric, in the past year. They don't work very long. Sometimes the brand new manuel ones didn't work at all. The best 2 can openers I have had were manuel. One was those silver cheap ones from the 70's. I had it 20 years. The other was a pink vinyl coated KitchenAid from sometime in the 2000's.
Guys! I just had to thank you for the best laugh I've had in a long time! Ive seen the video for cracking the nuts you got from your neighbor when it originally came out but I just came across it again and I had to watch it! Still as hilarious as ever!!!!
Hilarious! You guys can be so funny! I remember Mom and Dad using nut picks on black walnuts that Dad had already smashed open. Their fingers would be stained dark brown for days. Black walnuts were used to dye fabric. Have a good weekend.
Folks in my family have different kinds of nut trees. One method they use is to put the nuts in a gunny sack, tie it up, and throw it in the driveway, and run over it with a car. Don’t advise using the tractor unless you want hickory butter. The gunny sack is the most important equipment...it keeps all the nuts together. This method is extra handy with walnuts to separate them from the messy outer hull. Tip two...always use playtex gloves if you are handling black walnuts. They stain hands badly.
This video gave me a great laugh! It's so nice to have good neighbors to help out when needed. I watched a few of your videos and got hooked right away. I have been catching up on older ones and watching all your new ones. Even though we are not homesteaders I do love having a garden and fresh herbs to cook with. I have learned quite a bit from your videos on what works best and what doesn't. Keep up the great videos! Love your family!
I had to come back to this video to comment.. the other day we were heading out shopping and passed a lawn chair on the side of our road sitting by itself, I said to my husband, “oh they must of been cracking hickory nuts.” He hadn’t seen this video yet so I played it for him. We passed it again coming home and he said hickory nuts and busted out laughing, too funny. We love all your videos!
I found your channel recently and absolutely love both of you! You are excellent at teaching us what you know about gardening, food animals and cooking. I always get a kick out of Kevin's cooking and his crazy comments. Sarah is the best at everything! I am really grateful from what I have been learning from her. I'm 65 and I'm going to get myself a small farm, with my kids. You have given me such encouragement to pursue this lifelong dream. I am winding down for the night and thought I would watch your channel, I have a lot of videos to catch up on! This video with the hickory nuts was the one that popped up. Oh my!!!! Both of you are also comedians!!! I laughed so hard!!!😂😂😂 Thank you for who you are and for sharing the wonderful gift that God has given you. Now back to watching this video again. 😊
Absolutely hilarious! I do recommend, for folks who don't have good luck at nearby antique stores, that you check out Lehman's Hardware Store online. They have a nice assortment of heavy duty nutcrackers. One is rather similar to the one you folks bought.
Funny video! We used to place our black walnuts between two sheets of old plywood. Then, drive over them with the car. Surprisingly, still got loads of big pieces.
@@tscarberry5914 - best done while hulls are wet & mushy (will ruin the boards with black stains). After that, we'd dry any nuts still in unbroken shells on tables of chicken wire. Then, if shelling lots of those now dried nuts, revert to the two plywood boards and car trick. If you intend to sell the meats or still-shelled ones, avoid any mashing technique while husk is on. Stained nuts are not salable (scares people who assume it's rot). Broken nuts also sell for less. Holiday season is the best time to sell walnuts - tradition. Put a red ribbon on it and get even more per bag.
Thank you, I needed a get good laugh and this was what I needed. You guys are great!!! I just started watching about two weeks ago and have when back and started watching some of your older shows and have learnt a lot and really enjoy watching. Praying for your family to do great and too truly be blessed.
Well I'm still laughing. You guys are hilarious. One of the viewers made a suggestion....they said how about a trained squirrel to do the job. Hilarious !! 😂😂 I just had an incident with some pistachio nuts that refused to open. Had to go searching for my nutcracker to get them open (true story, this happened yesterday). That was tough, they really were very difficult to get open. Now you got lots of hickory nuts for cookies. Sara, how about a video making cookies using your hickory nuts. Especially for Christmas. I love your nutcracker, it's awesome. This video had me in stitches. 😄
You guys are hilarious! All my fake eyelashes just fell out because I was crying with so much laughter. Who needs pay tv when you have hickory nuts 🤣🤣🤣
I am a big fan of your videos. My husband and I watched the youtube you produced today and then, I thought about this video that I had seen a while back. I had my husband watch this. We absolutely cracked up.....those deadpan looks you both have are PRICELESS!!!! A hundred thumbs up on this one. That you so much for the laughs today.
I just got finished watching the hickery nut video and I laughed my head off you guys were hilarious in this I am so glad you got worked out you'll bring such joy to my days thank you kim
You do know a regular old vise works just as well I am 30 years old and have been cracking black walnuts and hickory nuts with a vise since I was 7 yrs old
My grandfather drill a hole through a 2x4 put the nut in the hole and then hit it with a hammer...step on the board....now you know why the neighbor gave them away
I watched then made my husband watch because you two crack me up 😂. We about died laughing while you sat in the chairs by the road 😂😂. Thanks for the great video! God bless 💕
I want to thank you for your videos that you post on here. I used to do my own meat and I was doing it that way my dad and grandma use to do it in the good ole days! Glad to see the old ways aren't lost. I remembered that my grandma would save the fried fat (we also called them chicharrones) in the freezer and use the fried fat to make a meal during winter. I make it for my husband and my kids. LOL...they love it whenever I make it! Thank you for sharing! Stay blessed! ~MG
I laughed so much at this one. How did y'all keep a straight face? We were gifted a bunch of black walnuts once. They were still green. My husband, having been brought up a literal hillbilly from here in the Ozarks poured them out in the drive way. We ran over them for few days to get all the green and then black husks off. Then we gathered them all up and spent a wonderful afternoon with the kids as Daddy laid them in a small knothole in one of the porch boards and used a hammer to whack them in pieces as the kids and I used the pickers to dig the meat out of the shells. Even now, years later, hubby gone and kids grown, I smile at the memories of that day and the smell of black walnuts in the sun.
I had to start the video over because hubby came in and asked what was so funny! We loved it! Keep up the great work you two are great! Hugs from NY :)
You guys are great. I look forward to your videos. This one was so funny. I can't wait for someone to suggest you drive your own car over the nuts. Lol
WOW !!! Finally you have showed me how to crack all my Hickory nuts .... We bought this property last year and it came with over 11 nut trees ,,, most are HICKORY and we didn't know how to crack them ! THANKS FOR HARING !!!!
I had a blast watching your video. I watch all of them or so I thought, and I don't know how I missed it. Sooo glad I had the opportunity of seeing it. Thanks so much. You guys are awesome.
