One of the best videos I've seen lately. I always watch on replay at 1.25 speed (sometimes 1.5) and often don't watch the whole thing but this was GREAT!!!

Wow! This was one of your best, Reedsy. Absolutely loved the amount of examples given throughout. Really helped me to think about how I could apply these concepts to my own writing.

Trying out that writing exercise about a paragraph involving two people in love without using any of those keywords: He takes the blanket from the end of the bed and covers my lap with it before handing me a cup of coffee just the way I like it. Sitting on the edge of the bed now, he pulls one of my feet from under the blanket and rubs it gently. When he finally looks up at me, there are tears in his eyes. "I can't lose you Annie. I just can't...". He can barely get the words out through his sobs. We both know the end is near.

The absolute best reference book for authors I've read is Writing Fiction, by Garry Disher. I bought King's On Writing ages ago and consider it a waste of money. It's mostly about him and his own career. Disher's book is chock full of great advice, tips, examples, and even exercises. You're welcome, by the way.
