Good job explaining the process and yes it will work out for you and you will have a fun time of! It’s good to take your time because you will make a perfect dome nice and snag for the next winter!
Thank you for this. I hope you upload the rest of the build on video soon! Would love also to know what you used for wrapping material, windows, etc. Thanks again!
A "Builders Log" of each step, can go a long way, to making a building inspection go better! Just like folks that build an "Experimental Aircraft" are required to keep! A printed version is a good Support, but a digital version adds flexibilities, like video, test data records, and pictures, that can be "Zoomed in on!"
Seems to me, these blocks will end up all having the same angle. So you could prefabricate those, by 3d printing the mold you cast these in. Is the anglefinder always finding the same angle?
this seems way smarter than buying their product and sawing a bunch, also those concrete blocks would be way stronger (tho not reinforced). But maybe you don't neven need to 3d print, should be doable to make that kind of mould manually
Why not use an airform at that point? Pour the thickness in multiple layers or build the rebar skeleton and inflate an airform inside the skeleton. Pour concrete, cure concrete, remove airform. It's what monolithic dome company uses.
Hey, looks great. Where abouts in Indiana are you? I'm over in Cincinnati. Looks like you're in a subdivision. I would not have thought it possible for you to build that dome there! I'm interested in building such a building, but wonder if it's a permitting nightmare?
Were in un incorporated area and I am not waiting for the system to pass codes before I can start building. I'll ask for forgiveness if something comes up.
@@AirCreteCreations - I have wondered if a "Peanut Shaped" Structure, cold work nearly as good, in extreme Winds, as a dome? Then, some new "Tricks" would be needed, for the "Compass Rod" placement!
@@AirCreteCreations Nice! What I haven't seen yet in Aircrete domis incorporating those color bottle's for light like they use for the earthships would also provide privacy.
Been wondering about putting an aircrete structure on a trailer. I think weight wise it should be alright. I'vr heard they are earthquake proof. Any thoughts or suggestions?
@@AirCreteCreations are you using suave men's body wash for the foaming agent? So glad to see another northerner doing this. Please keep us updated. You have gotten further then we have up here in Michigan. 👩🔧
AirCrete Creations You're very welcome Sir. Thanks for your inspiring video. It got me thinking too. I was wondering: Since you know the height/volume of dome you're going for, and the size of blocks you'll find it easy to calculate the angle of curvature per course of blocks and number of blocks per course. God Speed!🙌🤗
I hear diffrent stories about the outside finish to make it waterproof. Others say aircrete dos not soak up water so making it waterproof is not nessecary. What is the truth?
It's a multi process bonding process. Like dry wall for an example is brittle chalk without the double paper sides. Aircrete is the same concept the wrapping material has a tensile strength of 175 the Portland cement has a 6000 pd psi. The 1/8 to 1/4" bonding/Portland mix (wrapping glue) has a strength of 750-1500 pd psi. I was told complete 10,000 breaking point. I will be testing in the future. Also circle is the strongest shape so wind will move around the structure. Without impacting because it has no sides. I understand where your coming from. I thought the same thing.
AirCrete Creations I greatly appreciate the time that you took out to give me some insight as to the process and material info ! I was researching dome homes and come across this! I love videos like this that get straight to the point!
Not a problem. I am a structural ironworker and I have built all types of structures and have brought a condemned house back to life as a project. This material is the new wave of building materials from my experience. Will be starting retreats and training once I get more experience working with it. Even for art carvings it's amazing
If you are making a Village, or hundreds of domes, sure! Otherwise, the design and fabrication of the numerous Molds, consumes much more time! Most such Domes are "One Offs", so his Bandsaw trick is faster!
