I've been designing custom letters for years when designing logos for clients. But I've never actually made fonts for clients even though many of them would really like one. Never even considered it was something I could actually do as a real typeface w/ font families!! You are AWESOME. Thank you for so generously sharing your expertise. I've got a new client who asked if I could do this. I found you and now my answer is a resounding YES!!
Thanks to this video, I've excitedly just designed my first couple fonts. After unsuccessfully scouring the internet for a week to find the font I had in my brain for a branding project, I realised it didn't exist, and I'd have to create my own if I wanted it. Fontself is amazing! Thanks for the tip!
I just created my first web ready and Adobe ready font in less than 10 minutes using your great training and this great software tool. I fear I may now be addicted though ... cheers!
Nothing short of epic. I can see Fontographer start circling the drain - and after having spent years of grappling with the intricacies and limitations of that particular piece of software, I welcome that vision ... Nice presentation , too. :)

Thanks for the tutorial. A few questions before I get the plugin: 1. Has it got a user's manual? 2. Does the most recent version run on Illustrator CC 2017? 3. Is there any complication to include letter "ñ" , accents or dieresis? 4. Which template must I work on for a Spanish set of characters/glyphs?
This is so frustrating to go through the whole process and find out you can't use Fontself with Adobe CS6 - I am not a full time graphic designer so can't justify upgrading when the old versions do pretty much everything I need. Any help with this for someone with 'Vintage' Illustrator??
hey sir, i am a big fan of u from pakistan and i have been watching your tutorials to built my skills. According to me u have great sense of humor in creating any creative and unique modules.
When using live trace, there's an option towards the bottom that says 'ignore white' just toggle that on and you won't have to deal with all those steps to delete the vectorized white space after.
Also even w/o 'ignore white' I'm really surprised by the choice to magic wand the black vector just to cut it, delete the white, then paste it back instead of just using it to select and delete the white. This is so interesting.

Hi Fantastic video thanks. I was wondering if you can help me as I can get hold for help from fontself. I downloaded fontself fine and converted my images of fonts to actual fonts and went to do the final part and press install but the install button is not there

Awesome video! Very helpful and informative. Now, the question is how or where would you recommend to put out a custom font to make a profit every time someone decides to buy your own typeface? Does my typeface have to be copyrighted? Thanks advance.
how can you add accents and other characters and name them correctly. As beyond the keyboard fontself needs to know what the other characters are. So how do you find the correct glyph names for the typeface you're building.
what if you want to create wingdings font? I tried dragging one of the basic shapes I made into the Fontself tab but it wouldn't recognise anything. :(
Raise your hand if your a work-from-home graphic designer and you don't change out of your pajamas until your spouse/room mate is soon due to be coming home, or you have to leave the design cave for some reason *raises hand* lol (you know, cuz even if you really have been working all day, you know their going to think "jeez, your STILL in your pajamas? must be nice.." Why would you not just select all the white that is created when expanding a traced image? Rather than selecting all the black, cutting it out, then selecting everything, then deleting it. That seems so inefficient. Am I missing something?

OH MY GOD this is going to change everything if it allows us to use any vector graphics as each character I'll be over-the-moon. **EDIT** No, this sadly doesn't work like I thought it might. All I really want is a plugin that lets you make collections of symbols which can then function _like_ a font--without really being one. This would allow for no restrictions on what you could use--you could even use OPEN paths for SINGLE-STROKE "fonts"! Unfortunately, this plug-in will fail to accomplish any of the things I need. :( It looked so nice too.
can u help me? I drew a logo, but i want it to make more perfect in illustrator, is that possibible? and how? bc my logo has straight lines and no curves.
Could you add a glyph to an existing font? As Slovak language has "ľščťž" and I always have to use "lsctz" and add the symbols above the letter and it's so annoying
Hi, it's not possible to edit fonts that were made in another tool than Fontself Maker. Editing OTF font files usually lead to technical glitches when not done appropriately, and in any case most of the font licenses don't allow to modify them. So it's for both technical and legal reasons. 😉
Thanx for this video and the $5 bux I saved with your link! I dove in and I already have a custom Font family for my latest brand. So sick!!! Oh yeah, the Fontself devs are super cheeky, and I love that humor, tots my style!
