How To Create a Glowing Effect in Adobe Photoshop

In today's tutorial I'm going to share some useful techniques for creating a glowing effect in Photoshop to make objects appear as if they are illuminated. I'll be applying the effect to the antlers of a deer in this example to create a surreal fantasy image, but the same process can be used to add lighting effects to all kinds of objects within a scene.

I just adjusted the playback speed on settings to make him sound funny, but then I can KIND OF keep up! Lol. You can also read the transcript underneath the video description, under "more..." 😊

You could also press pause, maybe rewind then pause, or pause then rewind. But yeah, I just listened one time through then went back to implement. Outstanding tutorial! #cbf4life

At 1:38 "Hold the command key and draw a selection around both paths". Pardon my ignorance, but I didn't understand what you meant there and missed a step. When I copied and pasted to make a new layer, all I got was a transparent layer without the selected portion.

Holding ctrl(cmd) key allows you to select the second path and then to convert both to a selection by right clicking and choosing the appropriate menu item. The pen tool should be still active. Instead of ctrl+c/ctrl+v you can press ctrl+j to copy the selection to a new layer. Cheers

This is more for advanced users. If you're completely new to PS, like I am, find another tutorial that will take it a bit more slow and explain what is happening along the way. If you have a temper like I do, make sure to insure your screen before you procede :P

I'm sorry but this goes far too quickly, assumes you know how to sample a colour, then goes off randomly to start adding a texture. Definitely not one for people who are not already fully conversant with Photoshop.
