I'm in college now and studying filmmaking, as well as writing (books and screenplys) and producing. This information helps, makes me want to create my own monster. That's why I love Guillermo del Toro. He's one of my favorite directors.
But you do have your own imagination, your own creativity and your own skill - aspects that are unique and specific to only you. So why be in his shadow when you already have your own shadow?! Don't waste your creativity on striving for absolute, pure perfection but instead do what comes naturally to only you.
That was interesting. A monster movie lives or dies on the monster. And it's character has to be developed just like everyone else in the movie. The scariest monsters are the ones that are unsympathetic and completely evil. The horror is just in being touched by them.
This! Guillermo del Toro, you rock! Do not let the initial box office results dismay you: Pacific Rim was incredible. I think next week you might make more money. But, if you don't make anymore..it's fine, because I know you've delivered the best summer movie anyone ever could. :)
very fascinating, I think another important element is having some form of allusion to a human, the Pan's Labyrinth creature was especially spooky because it was humanoid and seemed like the result of a human suffering. Personifying evil is one of the best kinds of evil because it is scary in how relate-able it is. Granted, too much humanoid evil makes that kind of evil saturated and no longer scary.
I'm going to watch the movie again because e need more movies like Pacific rim this guy is really smart he learn English so fast I mean he was born in Mexico and start his career their is hard to learn other language when you already old
Pacific Rim is one of my favourite movies of all time. It was brilliant. But I do agree, a few more fight scenes with the Chinese and Russian jaegers in combat would of been great, I feel they're part in the movie was over to fast, especially considering because they're the last of jaegers you'd think they must obviously be the best.
they are technically valid Sakurai recently made kid icarus uprising and is currently making Super smash bros. wii u and 3d Miyamoto is currently making pikman 3 and is developing a new franchise
pacific rim could have used atleast 1 or 2 more fight scenes. There was a total of only 3 full fight scenes in the movie. Showing different jaegers in action would have been awesome. I give this movie. A 9.5/10.
:/ unfortunately, the kiaju in the promo behind him was the one I most identified as having the Godzilla head with boomerangs for nostrils. I saw the movie twice anyway ;)
