You have done this really great that’s cool I would like to try to do a pinup more vintage background, but you already have the photo shop and you have a tablet with a pen tool?
I have searched and searched for how to make this painted effect and low and behold you had exactly what I was looking for. It was the same case for the Narnia postcard you did. Man, I’m so glad I found you. You’re getting me a raise!
It's funny. I've just come back to PS from a hiatus of about 20 years. We didn't have thousands of RU-vid tutorials in those days and even if we did, we didn't have the bandwidth to watch them! 🤣🤣🤣 But what's become incredibly apparent in the short time I've been back with PS is that very little has changed, I mean in the basics. I remember when we had to create a drop shadow manually, in the days when NSCA Mosaic ruled the roost. Great to see how many things have developed and how some things haven't and have stood the test of time. Like talent. Thanks for an entertaining and inspiring video!
I discovered a love for photoshop during the pandemic, and the more I play around, the more I love creating things. I learned so many cool tricks from this tutorial! Thanks for putting this into the universe!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, I liked how you explained what some of the various layers done in terms of effect on the images instead of just saying "do this" without explanation. It is much appreciated.
Those vintage posters are such a mood! 😍 The retro fonts and funky designs really jazz up any space! @VintagePosterArts #retrodecor Loving this vintage poster art! The colors and illustrations are so bold and fun - really captures the retro vibe! 🎨 @VintagePosterArts #popartstyle

WoW! this is exactly what I needed! I am working on my logo for a spice seasoning business and I wanted to create the Elvgrin images, this is so very much right on! Thank you so much for creating this video!
Great video, now I just have to somehow remember these steps so I can do this on the fly on my own. On a side note, the quality of the photograph matters a lot.
Instead of using the pen tool to cut out what I do, is I just use 'quick select' or 'magic wand' to select the white and expand the selection by through for pixels. It's a lot quicker in my opinion and works pretty much the same.
I guess, that said, I really have no earthly idea what you did or why with the layer mask and hair at the beginning. Layer masks have always fried my brain, and I didn't see any difference between your first cutout or the second, end result.
I used to love gimp but got the adobe photoshop for $10 per month and so worth it. Worked in Gimp for probably 7 or 8 years minimum and have learned more and had more fun this last year with photoshop. (y)
@Shoot Em Up Portraits I use both. I have Gimp legally because its free and I pirated photoshop 9 so it cost me zero dollars. Recently I use more Gimp because its smaller and starts faster.
Noah Ok but why the hate? Are you stupid or just hater? Maybe both who knows. How you can hate a software that is made by the people who use their skill and knowledge and is given totally for free, free and with source code. Your opinion sucks man. Bye.
I tried Gimp a few times, I really tried to like it. I think I was spoiled by having used Photoshop beforehand. I have been using Krita for the last few years, which I enjoyed a lot more than Gimp. But now I upgraded my computer so I started using Photoshop again. NIGHT AND DAY. So much better, even with all the bloat.
Gimp has always worked perfectly fine for me. It just takes a little time to learn the layout and correct usage of its functions, just the same as any other piece of graphics editing software.
I'm learning Photoshop and have been surfing all tutorials here on RU-vid. May I say, this channel is great and explains complexed tasks for beginners slowly, compared to our friends in America who race through things like they are on something. I was wondering while I am here, which is unrelated to this tutorial why when rotating text in a circle the letters are never aligned properly. Adjusting the text using the black cursors always make the text uneven. This has been driving me mad for a week. Thanks
Man.. I really tried to follow this step by step.. but it'd be great if you could it slow down just a bit. It's almost as if you'd like to show off what awesome stuff you can do when you know wtf you are doing.. but don't want anybody to replicate your "magic" :-(... never had to pause the video as much as in this one, but I still learned a lot. Thanks man.
hay chris just want to say its super tutorial love the way you explain each and every detail. please keep uploading your tutorial alwasy help to learn new thing.
I think this effect is very good; one of the best I've seen. However, the steps go by quickly, making it a little hard to follow. It would help this and similar videos if there were also a step-by-step set of instructions with illustrations. This way the video would give the overview but the instruction set could be easily followed by the student without having to constantly back up the video for things he didn't understand on the first pass.
