When I was in Washington, I had to create a portfolio to graduate, but in California, they aren’t as common. I decided to make one anyway, and I can tell you really put a lot of thought into it.

I just want to take the time to come back to this video and comment that this portfolio helped me get hired on my very first interview as a first year teacher at a school district that rarely hires new teachers without any prior teaching experience! Seriously people I had my interview today and I bought Michelle’s portfolio from PTP yesterday (literally a night before) and practiced the interview questions from her interview questions video and holy cow. Buy her template and practice those interview questions. I was asked every single question she asked on there and I’m so glad I took the time to prepare some answers and to flip through my portfolio to show some of those key points. Be smart and work on both the template and sample interview questions ahead of time! I couldn’t because I didn’t have time and was lucky and fortunate enough to get the position. Thank you so much, Michelle!!!!!

Using a Mac - hold OPTION and then type the "e" in "Ferre" and you'll see a temporary ´ (that's an accent mark), then type the letter you want to be accented - an "e" in your case. :> It's a lot faster than inserting from the special characters. So again - OPTION + e = accent mark. :) Go, Ferré - You're killin' it.

Just bought this template on TPT! it is amazing and this video is so helpful. The template is totally customizable you can change the text on all of the pages if you need! My portfolio looks so nice now

I'm not a teacher, I just love organization, but I DID get an idea from you! I have all my bookmarks on Chrome like yours (just the webpage icon) and I found myself getting frustrated trying to access my work google drive while using my personal computer. I saw you have 2 google drive bookmarks, and it inspired me to add a second one that goes directly to my work one! It's so trivial but I know it'll be a help :)

This is a great resource! I’m not currently looking to change schools, but in the future when I plan to, I’ll come back to this. Also, as a HS teacher not all of these categories are applicable, but I can definitely see how I can utilize most and modify for what I may need. Nice job, Michelle!

Thanks for sharing this video. You always make more complicated tasks seem simple. Like how you used the presentation notes area to write down what would be in each section of the portfolio BEFORE picking the Table of Contents. So smart! 😊👍

As a 22 year veteran teacher I am not looking for a job, but still thoroughly enjoyed this video. I teach French and use accents all of the time. Did you know that there is a much easier way to insert accents than using special characters? As long as the font you are using supports accents, all you have to do is use the option key on your MacBook . For example, to put the accent on Ferré, all you have to do is hit option+e, then the accent will pop up. Then hit the letter e again and the letter will show up with the accent on it. Each key on the keyboard is designated for a different special character. Hope that helps! I can't wait for the next one!

Did you have the Google Slides option the entire time, or is it a new update to the product? So funny, I created an entire virtual portfolio using your template, but didn’t know there was a good slides option. I just copied and pasted a lot from PowerPoint onto Google slides. Either way, I got hired by the district I applied to, so thank you!

Definitely a late response, but I’ll respond in case someone else has the same question! What I did was I got on Pinterest and copied images and pasted them to her template to give a visual about the key points I wanted to hit. For example when I talked about behavior, I knew I’d incorporate a clip chart in my classroom, so I searched on Pinterest for a clip chart and added “clip chart sample” at the bottom of the rummage for everyone to see that I had an idea and plan for what to do. That is what the interview panel really wants to see from a teacher with no experience!

You can get a printable PDF of your teaching certificate on the MSDE portal website! I had to do that for my online certificate. Hope this helps :) eisportal.msde.maryland.gov/
