OMG thank you so much man. I had an issue where I couldn't even download the installation media and i had to choose the third option from windows "Download Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO) for x64 devices" It literally took four hours to download the ISO file to my PC and then finally I could upload it to rufus. SUCH a headache because my PC is acting up but i finally got it on a USB and it's thanks to you!

Why do you recommend to disable Bitlocker? Wouldn't it be better to have an encrypted drive? Also, if we do disable Bitlocker, can we enable it manually after the rufus/windows install?

Bitlocker is a pain, especially if you're going to clone the drive with Windows on it to another drive at some point. Of course if you want to protect your data, Bitlocker is really good, but I still wouldn't enable it when creating the bootable usb drive. You can always encrypt the drive with Bitlocker after your Windows installation yes, that would be the better option in my opinion. But basically, it comes down to personal preference, I don't like Bitlocker.

You need a Minimum of 8GB to create the flash drive for Windows 11.

Have you tired the Windows2Go option? I have a Windows2Go (Win10) on an external nvme drive, but it cannot be upgraded from within that (installer will say that W2Go instances cannot be upgraded). So I am planning to use Rufus to do a clean Windows 11 W2Go install.

Unfortunately a Windows 11 Rufus setup cannot be created on a Win 7 machine as only Rufus V3.22 is compatible with Win 7, which only allows for a normal Win 11 setup without the great exclusions provided by later Rufus versions, like Local Account set up or TPM Requirement removal. I'd prefer to keep running 7 but it becomes more difficult as time goes by due to waning support from browsers and Microsoft.

Brilliant video, well explained. When I first used it everything was great but I think Microsoft has tweaked the isofile. Now on set up you can’t get past using a Microsoft account either work or personal, nor the PIN number requirement. I’m trying to reload a number of pc’s for a charity I run and don’t want 5hem all linked to my Microsoft account, an6 advice?

Issue resolved, Lenovo had updated the bios and I couldn’t find the boot sequence. Now found it on the F12 key and it’s a single use change and only visible when the device is connected in this case the USB drive. Sorry for the confusion. Still great channel, look forward to more tips

thanks for this, it's sad microsoft doesn't support ryzen 1st gen cpu's. i already have tpm 2.0 supported it's just the processor unsupported

I have an old PC Compaq presario , it has 4 gig ram and 500gig HD. I have once tried to use even windows 10 but it couldn't take it because I guess it doesn't have the capacity. Do you think this approach will work seamlessly in installing windows11

You can try it using this method, but I suggest you install it on an SSD. It will be very slow on a HDD.

Can i still do this process on a Windows 7 PC? I dont mean creating a W7 bootable drive, just creating a W11 install drive for a different PC. I'm just confued since Rufus mentions no longer supporting Windows 7 or something.

Yeah the latest version of Rufus won't work on Windows 7 anymore. You can try using Ventoy ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oWSHLPtAQHQ.html on Windows 7 though and if that doesn't work, try Balena Etcher.

There might be an issue with the ISO file you are using to create the bootable flash drive OR the USB flash drive you have is faulty, maybe try another one?

Am a little outdated on these kind of practices, a question after you have it all set up and ready to proceed to install, do you have the option for just to upgrade or is it mandatory to format the disk?

You can select the same partition where Windows is currently installed which will then put all of the existing Windows files in a folder called Windows.old but Windows 11 will be installed as a fresh installation and you can get the files from your existing (or previous installation) in the Windows.old folder on the C: Drive, but all of your apps and programs will be gone. Hope this helps.

plus unless you're doing a complete PC rebuild (like me) formatting isn't necessary. But if you're changing mobos, gpu and cpus then having a fresh install and new drivers saves headaches down the line, It's just that extra mile you can go to save yourself the stress and panic if the time comes.

Not necessarily, as long as Rufus creates the flash drive without any errors it should be fine.

Thanks! To be honest I don't really have any particular reason, I just always download the ISO files from Microsoft Directly. I have them saved on my computer because I work a job in tech, so I guess it's because I'm not used to downloading it every time I create a new bootable usb flash drive, because I have the ISO files saved. I guess it would've been better for the tutorial though, maybe one for the future.

@memstechtips it downloads the iso image to a hard drive on your computer and then installs it to the bootable usb. You can either keep the iso image or delete it to save space. I only mentioned it because i wasn't sure if you knew about that feature, and it really streamlines the process. either way, great vid and very informative at that.

Any idea if windows 11 23h2 still works for the older versions of Rufus? I only have access to Rufus 3.22 on windows 7. Is the windows media creation tool iso fine to use? It's 5.2gb instead of the 6.2gb from the direct iso download.

I'm not sure if Rufus 3.22 will work, but you can try using it. I think the issue you'll have is that you can't skip the hardware requirements with Rufus 3.22, but I'm really not sure, you'll have to try. Using the .ISO file from the Media Creation Tool is also fine, not sure why there is a size difference though. If you haven't seen yet, I have a Windows 7 to 10 Upgrade guide and a lot of people has had success in upgrading their PC's to Windows 10 using my guide. You could upgrade to 10 and then to 11 or install the latest version of Rufus on Windows 10 to create the Windows 11 bootable USB flash drive. I'll link the guides below. Actually it won't be bootable usb cause will you eufi windows setup won't boot on ntfs file system, this is the major problem with some motherboad they're only support FAT32 file system while using uefi boot, I'm looking for solution of this issue as well

It will work on any pc, the only thing you have to keep in mind is the age of your target pc, if it's an older computer, you will probably need to use the MBR partition scheme when creating the USB flash drive. If it's a newer computer, then the GPT partition scheme should be fine. Let me know how it goes!

GPT did not work, as my drives are MBR.😮 MBR working straight away. Thanks for the tips. Doing a clean install. I was playing with 1 of my drives as it has bad sectors, must have deleted something as i had a previous W10 which i had deleted. Then it would not start. Once it is installed i will go back to doing full formatting onto the disk with bad sectors....what a pain!

@@memstechtips I think the W11 installation has taken a partition from the bad sectors drive and made it into an active boot partition. But I think it is bad sectors as full format seems to be fixing it. Made it into 3 partitions so I can full format each one faster.

@@memstechtips It seems this is normal, you are supposed to disconnect the other drives when you install W11 or it installs boot files on the other drive. Though I had other files in that partition about 20GB, I made that partition smaller about 22GB. I just left it....After a few full formats, using hd sentinel I noticed the health of that partitioned HDD (wd black( has gone up from 46% to 93% and now is marked as healthy. All is well, now I know to leave them boot files alone, I have learnt my lesson. But a fresh install runs much better then a windows 8.1 upgrade, also my OneDrive works which did not work with the upgraded version. Thanks will check out your other videos.
