Sometimes you need a little insurance. In this video we show you how to make a wire stinger rig to use as a second hook in a live bait rig. A lot of the time, pelagic fish with teeth like kingfish and wahoo will cut the bait in half when they eat it in an effort to injure the bait. Sometimes they come back for the other half of the bait and sometimes they do not. The stinger hook increases your hook up rate on the first strike and is most effective in larger baits like goggle eye, blue runners, and speedos.
In this particular stinger rig, we show you how to make a stiff rig stinger that does not allow the hook to move around loosely in the bait. One of the advantages is that it allows you to determine the angle you want the stinger to sit in the bait and know that it will stay in that position until you get a bite if rigged properly in the bait. This stinger is designed to be rigged under the skin of the bait. We will show you how that's done in a separate video. Enjoy this tip and technique and tell your friends about our channel!
