Finally! A video of somebody showing you how to actually set up an email list vs just saying you need to set one up. Do you have a video on how to actually create an email in convert kit? Like a monthly newsletter for example that goes out on automation.

Thanks Kirstie! That's an excellent video suggestion. I don't have one yet, but I do plan to make one. In an ideal world, what topics would this video include? - Confirming subscribers - Thank you email - Tagging subscribers - Editing email templates - Sending broadcasts - Basic personalization Anything else?

@@BuildThatWebsite That’s essentially it! I’m trying to navigate convertkit and how to embed opt in forms to my Wordpress site for single emails (freebies from my site). The whole automation template has me confused 😅

Good news! You don't even need to mess with automations to handle lead-magnets / freebies. If you're doing one form per freebie all you have to do is this: 1. Open one of your forms that has a lead-magnet (freebie) 2. Click the 'Settings' button near the top right 3. In the form settings, click on the 'Incentive' tab 4. Setup an incentive email (optional) 5. Add a redirect URL or file to download (freebie) So basically, you can either use the incentive email (sent after confirmation) to give a link to your freebie, or you can use the form redirect settings to link to a hidden URL or file do download the freebie.

This is really helpful and I love how you took us step by step. Very helpful. Please do a series on Elemetor and ConvertKit. Really appreciate it, I even liked you showed a video of yourself to the top right instead of doing a straight voice over. Nice touch. Thanks once again

Thanks Monica! In terms of doing on a series on Elementor and Convertkit, do you mean how to use them together? Or separate series on each of them? If you want to learn more about using them together, what topics should I include that weren't covered in this video?

@@BuildThatWebsite Well since you asked… I like to see how to make restaurant menu items more easily updatable through ACF or a MySQL database, and how to control how the items are displayed in a menu archive type page. Or, maybe you have some different ideas?

It depends on why you want to use custom fields rather than just update the text directly. Are you just trying to keep a client from screwing up the design? Do you need to re-use the menu data on multiple pages? I think it's probably too specific a topic for my channel (lot of effort, too few viewers) but here are some ideas: Using ACF (pro) you would use a repeater field, which would contain sub-fields like the menu-item-name, menu-item-price, menu-item-description etc. You would probably want several field groups to contain these repeaters, such as 'Appetizers', 'Entrees', 'Desserts'. Then you would either create a custom template with PHP or just create a shortcode for each menu section (Appetizers, Entrees, Desserts) to loop through the repeaters and output the data to create the menu. An easier way but slightly less flexible would be to just use Elementor Pro to show dynamic data from custom fields (I have a tutorial on this). The downsides are: you can't use repeater fields, and you have to be careful if the number of menu items changes frequently. But honestly I would just look for a plugin that has this functionality. I bet there are a bunch.

Another way to do it (makes more sense if you also want a separate page for each menu item) is to create a menu-item custom post type, then use ACF to create fields for each menu-item (price, description, name, photo(s)). Then you could loop through the menu-item posts on the archive page to create the menu. If you don't know php, you could use something like Toolset (Types & Views) or Elementor Pro with Ele Custom Skin Pro to do this. Pods Framework is a free alternative to Toolset, and I think it might be able to do this with minimal PHP but the documentation on their site is so bad right now that you might not be able to figure out how it works. It's too bad because it has a lot of potential.

Hi, I see there is the option for a double opt in, but I can't set the email to confirm the subscription and in my tests I don't receive any email. Do you know how it works? thanks

Convertkit's implementation of the double-optin isn't very intuitive. They call it an 'Incentive Email' which you can configure in the form settings. Documentation: help.convertkit.com/en/articles/2971364-the-all-important-double-opt-in

I don't understand why you say it is free, but the widget form you used is for the Pro Version of Elementor. Am I missing something? If I had access to this particular widget (I only have access to WPforms), then these instructions would be applicable to me.

Convertkit is free up to your first 1000 subs. You can just embed a convertkit html form in your Elementor template if you don't have pro.

You placed the 'Get your free guide' in the form submission button. So could you explain how we can send our opt-in members the pdf file (ebook) as soon as they click on 'Get your free guide'?
@BuildThatWebsite
@BuildThatWebsite Год назад
Convertkit calls the feature the 'incentive email' and it's available on the free plan. When you send the 'confirmation' email you can choose to redirect to the file download (the ebook) when they click 'confirm' help.convertkit.com/en/articles/2502655-the-incentive-email
