If the logo is combined with good services, good prices, good customer service, etc. people will start to associate the logo with those things, the logo isn't great until it's combined with something great. So take that into account, a logo is an important part of the brand, but it only works when the other elements are on point too

I always find it strang when people say that someone sound confident when in fact they sound pushy like a sales person or cocky. There is a flightyness to him that makes me feel that if I went into business with him he would steal my wife, money, and head off the the Bahamas. Confidence is more of a solid and slower speaking person. A John Wayne or sir Winston Churchill or other figures of authority. This guy sound more like a Flim Flam man. So I am always surprised that people say guys like this are " confident". I just dont see it.

When I started my tree care service, I swapped some comic books to a young sketch artist for a set of designs. I wasn't happy with his work, so I designed my own. I wanted a tree that spelled out the name of my business in the branches and roots. And the name of my company was 4 words. I wanted people to realize I had the entire environment in mind, not just the tree in isolation from the environment. I chose "Nature's Way Earth Care" for my name. It confused some people. I would get calls for generic landscaping or pest control. But my focus was on trees, and my tree shaped logo reflected that. I did okay. My design is memorable, even if people can't read it right away. But if I ever start another tree care service, I'll have a shorter, more memorable name. For now, my focus is on launching my community farm.:) You wouldn't believe how many clients I've had that couldn't remember the name of the last tree care service they used! How could you not? Trees live for decades, and people cherish them. The people who care for them are at least as important. Honestly!

I totally missed this video! How silly of me :D As a wanna be good designer I accepted a logo creation challenge from a friend. All I can tell is that we nearly became enemies :)) It was one of the trickiest tasks that I had. About your poll: 1) McDonald's: playful, colorful, inviting 2) Apple: bitten apple = going outside of rules, innovation 3) Playboy: pagan symbol of sexuality but with a touch of class due to the ribbon 4) Patriots: warrior spirit with a patriotic coating 5) Raiders: ruthless, would do anything to win 6) Red Sox: energy and baseball ( kinda hard to get if you don't know about them being a baseball team though) 7) Spirit Airlines: simple almost childlike, affordable, warm but serious business

A logo only makes you feela certain way if you can connect it to some experience or something you heard someone say etc. You can make the best, most memorable logo ever and people will just forget it if they never had to do with you or thought about you. They will recall it if they see it agin, but they wont necessairly think about your brand when they think about a thing that you produce. What i want to say is that a logo doesnt really help you to maket your stuff, it only makes people feel good when they see it if they like your product. This obviously also works the other way around. If people hate your barnd and see the logo they are gonna think of how bad your brand is every time they see it. Good logo is just a powerful as your products.

Pat, I really love your channel. I've been hugely motivated with your content. BUT... Please don't endorse a company like Fiverr. They have devalued the process of design and the site is full of dodgy designers that copy other people's logos. They're good for things like voiceovers and that kind of thing. But if you want a proper logo design. Find a proper logo designer.

think41c Shit remains shit even if you put glitters and sparkles over it. Fiverr = Fiverr Pro. You get a 10$ logo that looks exactly like that price tag, doesn’t help a business and it’s just a shortcut for people who don’t wanna invest a real effort in their business, you’re better off spending that money on a sandwich or something untill you can afford to pay a proper designer or an agency than can actually make an impact with their design instead of ripping off something from google images search and putting your name under it.

Yeah - same goes for any service (Fiverr or whatever) that you gotta check out. I had purchased a few logos from Fiverr (the $20 version) and all the logos were being used by other companies. Who knows, maybe Fiverr Pro probably should have just rebranded totally to get away from the lack of quality of their Fiverr sellers. Maybe it'll be a case study on this channel soon enough? :)

Under your categories HP should be under wordmark and not pictoral. For instance you put Yahoo under workdmark, their logo is a Y, but for Hewlett Packard, their logo is HP but you put it in pictoral. Within five years all other computer and cell phone companies will surpass them. The iPhone 11, what a disappointment. Not worth the money to upgrade to that.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that the video is made to promote that company. And that s okay, if you re aware of that. Good lesson on content marketing.

This was a good simplified view of a logo. My favorite is #6 Logos evolve. You should think of logos as evolving. When you start out it's okay to have a "young" logo as long as it captures what you want to say and then later it can evolve into something more.
