Thank to everyone who watched the video, I really hope you liked it and found it resourceful! Let me know what you would like to learn in terms of digital art and Clip Studio Paint and it might get featured in a future (hopefully shorter) video! ;) Have a beautiful day everybody, I'll see you in the next one!
The video helped a lot, Thank you! For another topic, could you do a tutorial on how to create a texture background effect on our illustrations, for example to have the look of a realistic canvas texture
I gotta say guys, after watching this video, I have created a brush that imitates life. In fact, in each pixel of my brush is an actual DNA piece. I have created a monster and now am hunted by most secret agencies in the world for playing God. They will never catch me.
Thanks a lot and yes I agree, it might seem daunting at times, but it's really worth exploring whenever you have some time! Thanks for the comment, it's always super appreciated. 💗
I can't begin to explain how helpful this was! I'm used to the brush engine in Sai.2, but decided to switch to CSP after seeing the difference in quality. This is far more helpful than the 30-60+ minute tutorials I've seen that don't even explain the basics. Usually, they just say "Go download this brush pack and use it like this" and they barely even explain how to use it right... I feel so much more confident making my own brushes and drawing with them after watching your video. This may be a late comment, but this is criminally underrated. You deserve far more subscribers for this kind of talent!!!
Ahhh your comment is so validating and makes me so happy! (● ´□` )♡ This is really what I strive for when making tutorials, I try to keep in mind that most people who seek them are at the beginning of their digital art journey and they need every single base covered to truly understand how things work. I also always try to do so below 20mins because I know it can be done and I want to respect people's time as much as possible. Again, thank you, it's comments like yours that re-ignite my motivation to keep making these videos because, while it's a lot of hard work, it also is really worth the effort to be able to help people and give them more weapons in this huge learning curve that is digital art. Best of luck to you in your art projects, I hope you will have a great time at it, cheers! (‘∀’●)♡
Excellent tutorial, thank you. And for the people which run into the same issue as me with the decoration brushes explained around 15:48 : If you are having the problem that there is a gap between the strokes when you try to use your brush, make sure that everything outside of the canvas is empty, select your canvas, then choose "Delete Outside Selection". In this way there won't be a gap in between the strokes when you use the brush as Clip Studio Paint also thinks that paint outside of the canvas would be part of the brush which might create gaps.
Thank you for the extra tip, this issue does seem to happen here and there to people and I hope they will read your comment for the fix! An additional thanks for the kind words, I'm happy you liked the video, have a good one! (*´▽`*)
Super helpful, thank you for making this video! :) ... I was poking around at other videos about how to make a custom decoration brush too, but yours was the most straight forward in terms of steps! Thanks again!
haii, thank you so much for making tutorial about that, but I have a problem, Im making my own brush. theres no problem with it but when Im tring to paint some place, the brush always paints the black. do you know the solution?
Sorry for the long wait...In the ''Ink'' tab of the brush settings menu, activate ''color mixing''. If you really do not want color mixing, the only fix I found online is to open your brush tip file, go to edit --> canvas properties --> switch basic expression color from color to gray and then do the same for your brush tip layer by right clickin on your layer --> convert layer --> change expression color from color to gray. All layers are in color mode by default and apparently that's what creates the issue with the brush tips. It's important to say that I have not tried this fix myself, but it's the only solution people have shared online so let me know if it works. Personally I simply check the ''color mixing'' box and that's it. Hope that helps! :)
I’m having a problem where I created this brush but I cannot change the color when I’m drawing with it. 18:42 No matter what color I pick on the color wheel, the brush always draws in black. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can correct it?

Hi. Im curious is it possible to lock the texture size of the brush. Im using oil painting style brushes, but when I'm incease/decresase size of my brush, it's also change the size of the texture, which is not looks natural. Is it any way to do it in Clip Studio without tweaking it manualy every time when I'm changing the brush size?
I'm new to digital painting, this was incredibly insightful, AMAZING JOB! Btw, when you were drawing the thorns I noticed you used something to readjust the thorns... like change their direction and length. What tool did you use to make that? Or if anyone else knows? That seems super helpful, and all I do all the time is undo and redraw, undo and redraw.. or erase. This seems much simpler.
Thanks for the kind words, I'm happy you found the video helpful! As for your question, actually, I was exactly doing what you said, but the timelapse make it seem very fast! I was only using the pen brush and doing ctrl + z when the thorn wasn't the way I wanted. There was no other tool used to adjust the thorns. Best of luck to you on your digital art journey, I'm sure you will have lots of fun, cheers! ヽ(o♡o)/
I'm having major difficulties. :( I'm trying to re-do a figure/streamline brush so I can add color to it, and I've tried like 6 tutorials now. I get to the inserting of the brush tip on the folder I copied, in this case the decorations one as that's what it's for, and I've tried other brushes as well. But every time I try to draw it, because it has a pattern in the center, all I get is a straight set of lines for the outsides, and the pattern from the inside just makes little triangles all over the edges? HELP! 🤔😕 Edit: After a LOT of messing around, I got it pretty well sorted out by using the angle. Still can't do sharp turns with it, but I can deal.
Oh no, I'm sorry you're having so many technical difficulties, I'm glad to hear you managed to find a fix though! I think the ''sharp angle'' box in the correction tab of the brush settings can create weird glitches like that, but in general it can be worth just checking and unchecking random boxes when something breaks in a dramatic way because we might have just checked the wrong one by accident, it's all part of the CSP learning curve. x)
I'm not sure why that is, but some tools seem to have the option greyed out while others don't, so maybe try to make your brush using a different tool as a base ? In my video I based my brushes off the gouache brush I believe and this one doesn't have the ribbon option greyed out, but to be honest, I did not know that was even an issue with other brushes. I will try to figure out the root of the problem out of curiosity, but for now that's the best tip I can offer you. 😕
Hmm, I think this has to do with which brush you are using as your base template. Try using the gouache brush as your base like I did in the video and I believe it should fix your issue. Let me know if this works! :)
@@CrimsyCreates lol actually I figured it out the other day the reason the options were unselectable was because I was trynna change it for the second brush like isn't there an option to select dual brush under brush tool settings ? I actuall tried to change the texture from that and that's why I couldn't but now I did it so yayyy!
I uploaded a custom brush I've made into clip assets and it got somehow copyrighted??? I duplicated a default brush and made changes to it but it still got coyprighted so i was wondering how i can avoid this in the future :')
I have absolutely no idea, I have yet to upload brushes in the asset store, but CSP has an ask forum where you can inquire them about these things, maybe they could help you with your issue. :0
For the time being, I'm pretty sure everything related to Photoshop is a one way street. Clip Studio Paint has adapted its software to read Photoshop files and import Photoshop brushes, but with Adobe it's seldom the other way around. There is also the possibility that Adobe has patented the abr format, making it impossible for other softwares to export in that format too, but I haven't found a clear answer online yet. That being said, you can still take the brush tip you've made in CSP and set it up inside Photoshop to recreate a very similar brush, but of course you will have to start over for every brush. Hope that helps! :)
@@CrimsyCreates thank you first of all, so if i created a brush on CSP and i want to sell it, but the other one uses photoshop can he use it in photoshop?
Sorry for the late reply. I believe he would have to set it up separately in PS because while CSP accepts PS brushes, the other way around doesn't work, as for most things with PS sadly. (。•́︿•̀。)
These brushes were sadly never put online and I kinda wish I did it before I had to re-install the OS on my PC because they apparently were lost in the process. The good thing though is that you can re-create them easily using this tutorial, which I will probably do sometime in the future and put them online when that happens. :)

I'm sorry, sometimes there is so much information to cover in one single video that I have to talk a bit faster to keep it under 20 mins. You can always lower the speed to 0.5 or slower in the playback options if I'm going too fast, hopefully that helps! Thank you for watching! (*´▽`*)
