Thank You SO MUCH for pointing out Relive. In a mere 5 minutes I not only downloaded the app to my phone but also created a movie of a recent winter Adirondacks Winter Backpacking trip!
I've been making my maps manually with Adobe After Effects and Premiere but a friend asked if there was an easier way. You've covered it beautifully, thank you. I'll be sharing this with my friend.
Love your videos. Thanks so much for posting this. I’ve been using Relive for along time. I used to have it auto upload to Relive but Strava shut down that option. 🤨 Come on Strava, why do you have to be like that?
So glad you liked it. I was disappointed with Strava, too. but happy there is still a work around. Relive added an additional step, too.. making you go to the app.. but when. There is a will there is a way! 😂
I am looking for a way to track where I ride my motorcycle and then play it back in a 3D format. This video is a couple of years old, do these two apps still do that, and are they both free apps? Thanks.
Hi, I have a fairly new channel and have been uploading videos with Relive footage in them. I was wondering if you got permission from the company to use videos from the app in you videos? If not, has the company contacted you or troubled you legally at all? Just trying to avoid any legal trouble in the future, thanks.
Great question. I reached out to them and asked and they said as long as their logo appears they were fine with it. Below is their response from Feb 2020 Thanks for getting in touch. You can embed Relive videos anywhere you like as long as you leave the watermark and you attribute the video to Relive. As long as you grant the right permission when we ask for it Relive will find any photos on your device taken during your activity and you can add them to your Relive video. You don't need to take them via our app. See you outside,
it's a few steps. I record my screen from my iphone using the native app on the phone. A filmed my phone and coffee with a top down shot. In Premiere pro I use the corner pin tool to pin the video where I wanted it. Hope that helps!
I would love to start adding customized animated maps of my rides to my videos. Relive does a good job, but you're stuck with their canned video format at low resolution (unless you pay for the pro version). I'm investigating bringing the GPX file into Google Earth Studio and creating a customized, high-res flyover video file for each ride. It will take a lot more time than using Relive, for sure. I'll let you know if I come up with an effective workflow for this.
Hi there, I have Relive plus, the only thing that annoys me with the app is that it depicts the maps upside down, i.e. I'd be more comfortable watching my activity if the app was showing the map the right way up if you know what I mean? North is at the top. is there a way of doing this? thanks for reply
@@AdventureMuse Cheers, two heads are better than one n al that, I couldn't see a way of doing it :'( I still like the app tho, just would prefer correct orientation
I sent them this - Is there a way that you can lock the orientation of the map when creating a video so that it's always in the correct orientation? i.e. North faces North and stays that way while I complete my activity, all my current videos start and finish looking South and it's quite disorientating when watching it back oO for instance, if I am reading a map for directions, I look at it with North facing North, this also makes it easy to navigate - if I'm heading West I look West etc
is it allowed to edit videos? Relive allows to put max 10 sec of videos. But i want to put long videos on the video at the point where i record them during my activity. So after create my video on relive is it allowed if i put the long video instead of it 10 sec video?
@@AdventureMuse i was also thinking along these lines. The Relive terms and conditions (#14 intellectual property rights) says that the user is not allowed to change, alter or edit the video without permission from Relive. It doesnt say about keeping their logo.
@@AdventureMuse We just rewatched this video and did a little test walk around the block. I think this is going to work awesome! We don't have Strava but have AllTrails, where we can export a GPX file, which we then imported into Relive. We've been wanting to get an AllTrails membership for awhile now, so just another reason. Thanks so much for this video Jan! -Greyhound
Excellent presentation, thanks. As to the app, it seems a bit hit and miss. Sometimes the activity/map will be emailed to me, sometimes I have to email it( and then have to try several times). Sometimes it just creates an activity with a time and date and I have to delete it and start over...
I'm assuming San Juan Capistrano? I live there as well...just started following you as my wife and I just got new Himiway eBikes and looking fro trails in the area (RSM, Ladera, etc...)
Cool, by change in another video you convinced me to get the RODE mic setup and I did. Now I am looking for a good way to plan my journeys and record them and somehow here you are again. lol. What do you recommend to use to A) plan a trip and B) record the actual route I used. As planned routes and actual routes are not always the same...and can these routes be over several days?
HA! Funny how that algorithm works. If you have Strava premium you can actually map out your route and show it. I did that in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FUmyIA5GyI4.html you can screen record google maps of the area you want to show. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VU8CxaS2l1I.html I also have done this where i take a screen shot of google maps, and draw the path in after effects. I'm still looking for the perfect solution, too. Not sure if any of this helps. But I'd be curious to hear what works for ya!
I've seen Relive videos that allow you to change the viewpoint as the trail is being traversed, but I can't seem to do that with videos produced this way. The viewpoint is fixed. Any idea how to accomplish this?
@@AdventureMuse Thanks for the prompt response! But, I did figure that was the case, so I had signed up for a trial membership, and I still didn't see any way to create a video that was both interactive and showed activity progress. I'll keep digging, I guess. I'll be sure to send you an example when I figure it out. I'm eager to combine the tracks of some of my 200 mile trail races with all the photos that show how wonderful the scenery was.
No. You can download the GPX file from Strava, I'm still using the free version. But you need to use Strava on the desktop. Upload to relive on the computer, then goto your mobile Relive App to create the video. Hope that helps.
That’s a great Question. I think so many people are so deep with Strava since they f gs AE us everything for free until recently. This video was to cover the after thought people like me who want the visual map, but forgot to track with relive.
Sadly, no. I've tried to make routes in Strava and export the GPX file, but it's missing the time/speed data. If you know how to edit a GPX file, maybe?
I joined Relive - no difference as far as place names (I guess it depends where you are). But Relive seems more accurate than Strava (Strava show my speeds as high as 55km/hr; Relive correctly shows my max speed at 35km/hr). The video creation, and accuracy - for me Relive is better than Strava.
of course you can, but if you didn't track your activity in Relive, you can go back in time by uploading a.fit, .gpx, or .tcx file. I haven't had luck with creating these files that wasn't from a tracked actual activity. But give it a try.
I download the Relive video and use that. But use the GPX file from Strava to create the Relive map. You can also use Relive to track your activity and skip the Strava/GPX step.
Jan Schrieber Yes, but i have download 2 app and used it all when I start riding, can I use only Strava then export to Relive, and creat video with Strava data?
@@hoangphucvo3376 You can track your activity using Strava. save as normal. go to your computer, export the GPX file from Strava (watch the video, i explain how). Open Relive on your computer, import GPX file. Then go to your relive app on your phone and make your video map. go back to your computer to download. I just created one and it's still working that way. Maybe watch the video again?
I'm not sure I understand the questions. If you have photos in your strava post, Relive will ask for access to the photos and will post on the map where they were taken if that data is available. I generally turn it off so I just have the map.
Yup! I've done that, too. This is more for the after though. I mainly track in Strava. Now that I have an apple watch it's easier to track Strava on my watch and Relive on my phone. BTW, thanks for watching and commenting. ❤️
You can of course do that if you recorded in Relive. But if you didn't track your activity using relive but recorded in Strava or another tracking tool, this is how you can still create the map.
You all talk how it's super easy, etc., but no-one mentions those apps are not for free - There's no way I'm not paying 40$ annually, just to create on or two no-commercial videos + it does not support adding custom trails afterwards, obviously I'm not going to do the same hike just to be able to get list of coordinates for animation.
