Great video for new business owners doesn't over complicate the process and gets the key information across, giving the viewers a good foundation to build on over time.
@edwardwhite_al Honestly, mate, please do, I started a business a year ago, and I've only just started to take it seriously, you have Honestly helped me build my own brand guidelines which I have now incorporated into the rest of my marketing. All from this video!
I love how you took time to explain every single point You have made me understand what I have to put in my brand guideline Thank you a lot I really appreciate
This was a great video. i followed along creating my own Brand Guidelines as I listened to your concise and informative talk about this important topic. In a way, the Brand Guidelines acts much like the the Business Plan's Executive Summary, in which the business outlines what it is and what it's about. This is even more crucial since in today's globalized web based business world, you don't need the executive summary from back in the day, because a business plan is mostly used to get funding. The Branding Guidelines helps us focus on our visual presence, which tells way more than the words, and speaking for me I had to focus my energy on what my brand will be about, which kept me from being too divergent, while also keeping in mind the multiple stream of income approach also crucial to success. Thank you so much for this. I'm glad I saw your video before my launch and not after.
Hello thank you for watching firstly and secondly it really makes me happy that you found this video useful and were able to follow along with your own brand guidelines. I wish you the best of luck with your business and if there is anything I can help with more please let me know.
actually I am also studying branding from a design school and they didn’t teach us anything about creating brand guidelines and yet expecting us to come up with guidelines for our imaginary brand. I have been searching for videos or guides about how to actually create brand guidelines and what all should be included in it but can’t find a single video which explains properly, all they show is what they have done for their brands.
Just posted a new video on branding and 3 ways to make it really effective: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qm3lifNpX88.html Would mean so much if you could go and watch 👏🏼
Glad it was helpful! I am looking at expanding this concept to cover all aspects of the brand. If you have any questions please send them to me via instagram, I would love to help and it might help me create more video content.
I love it. It's simple and practical. One more thing is that Would you mind sharing file with grid system or pdf file? I would like to learn more about how designers set grid and layout for brand guideline book.
I have made one which is here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9mr8Mr7aiDM.html But let me know if you have any other specific questions. 😁
Question: what program did you use to make make the actual brand guideline as I am creating them now through illustrator but would like to shift to the format you use as it is clean and concise. Thanks!
Ohh no! I know sometimes it can be hard to keep track and it's always good to have a 'brand files' which includes logos, font files and other assets all in one place - also really good if you need to work with other people as you can just send them the files.
Great video, Edward! Subbed! Quick question - what’s your view on creating brand guidelines for RU-vid channel? E.g., thumbnail design, logo/icon use for the content, consistent look & feel of the video aesthetic
Thanks for watching and subscribing! Yes certainly - I think with anything you do creating a brand guidelines for it would be really effective. Essentially it would be similar to that of the personal brand with the added element of video structure and tone of voice. I might make a video about this at some point thank you for the ideas!
Thank you so much for this! Any guide on Typography? I'm worried I might use a font that isn't allowed to use for small businesses. I'm not sure which one is okay and not okay to use.
great to see this today as Im putting together updated company brand guide - i like the layout of your doc looks like 5:4 landscape - i have the idea to layout like this instead of the current A4 of the original company guidelines - is there a template of this or recommend any approach in setting it up for PDF and print as i like the idea of a small printed booklet to compliment the pdf
Glad you enjoyed the video, it's a landscape A4 document and was set up using InDesign. The best bet is to use InDesign to set this all up (based on the printers requirements which they will give you) give me a shout if you have anny other questions and good luck with the brand guide!
@@edwardwhite_al appreciate the feedback - in my mind i was envisaging this as a small bookaround A5 get a couple printed up for the office as a coffee table thing in addition to usual pdf - would uforesee any issue with that potential approach
Are there brand guidelines for issues like pricing and bundling. For instance, if you have a specialist brand and do not want retailers to devalue it by selling it cheaply or bundling it with unsuitable products, in what document or format should you present these details?
It doesn't sound like you would be 'brand guidelines' it sounds more like it would be a wholesale contract, where you outline the price you wish retailers to sell your products at and any deviation from that will need to be requested... The brand guidelines will then come into this if they are using your brand as part of their marketing.
