Your video thumbnail makes it seem like you will show us how to do a color transition with text and not something super basic like this. Your description is a bit misleading as well. Left disappointed

Can't you get use the text layer as a mask on the color layer? It's a technique that can be applied to other things

it's not misleading, it says color transitions and it's exactly what i was looking for. and also, it's a 4 minute video and you can skip to the end to see if it's what you need.

If you want to create a shape that is the same as the comp, you can just Double-Click on the square "shape tool" at the top

What if you don't want it to ease into the next color? What if you just want a sharp change in color? I have no idea how to animate that.

@@woutvandesompele8310 I totally forgot about this. But it just occurred to me that you can do it by adding an extra kf for each color. so frame 1 has pink, frame 9 has pink, frame 10 has blue, frame 19 has blue, frame 20 has yellow, etc. hope this helps.

I'm currently struggling with something, the thing is that I made a flat art animation of a desert, and it is supposed to go from day to night, the day scheme is orange but I can't make the transition to a blue night color because it goes from orange to pink then blue, and the pink is really ugly because it doesn't match with the sunset. I know perhaps there is not a way to do that night transition but I´m not surrendering yet, maybe I just need to find out the correct night scheme for the transition. If you could help me with that it would be great! :D

Hey Andrés! I just tested out this technique which may be helpful 😊 1. Go to New --> Adjustment Layer (position it at top of layer stack) 2. Go to Effect --> Generate --> Fill (apply Fill to this adjustment layer) 3. Click the stopwatch icon for 'Fill' colour from the Effect Controls panel, and pick your first colour. 4. Scrub the the timeline forward and pick your second colour, keyframe should be created automtaically, and first colour should gradually change to second colour if you play the timeline. 5. Change the blending mode of the adjustment layer to 'Color' and your designs should now be visible underneath the adjustment layer (if blending options for layers aren't visible, click the middle icon in the bottom-left corner of the screen, or right-click the layer itself)

@@ForeverDansky Dude, thanks a lot, there wasn't actually need to do all that. All I needed to do was just to use the 'fill' effect instead of the 'change to color' effect, you really saved me an insane amount of time, thanks a lot!

Hey good question! You can either do the colour work in Illustrator and save/import as a .eps file. Or go to ‘Effects’ panel in After Effects and search for ‘Fill’. This fill effect can also be keyframed with different colours 👍

Hey Sameer, if they're two different photos, one way to fade these into each other is by adjusting the 'Opacity' and creating keyframes from 100% to 0% opacity on one image, and then 0% to 100% on the other. It's a pretty simple fade effect, and there's likely a better way if you actually want to 'morph' the images together, just a bit beyond my experience with After Effects at the moment 😊

You need to put the keyframe for the next color right after the keyframe with the previous one. Basically copy the keyframe and paste it one frame behind the next color.

if its a png then select it > layer > auto trace , and it will be a mask and you could copy it into the solid and then from the mask select subtract if its a an ai then select it > layer > create > create shapes from vector layer, and it will be a shape itself, so you can change its fill colors

I suggest you come to business sooner in youtube tutorials. People want to learn how to color transition, not the stuff you do beforehand. NO TIME for that
