Very helpful and well explained. One thing that I haven't been able to figure out is how to remote a Custom Site Template after it has been added. I now have several site templates including a few that are no longer needed and can't figure out how to remove them.
That is a massive help. As per the previous comment I also had to connect to the site which is being used to create the template from, when using connect-pnponline, rather than the admin site. But apart from that this worked a treat. Thank you so much.
This works like a charm even if it would be easier in a web gui. But what about the site design, the webparts that are removed, added, rearraganged? That change will not get updated on the deployed site of this new template. How to fix that?
I have a question, how can I add a button like you habe the TEST button at 0:59 where I want to add link for other pages. ( I want to do on sharepoint 2019)
HI, for me the template just updtate some design aspects. My Lists and other settings didn't come when I apply the template, so it won't be useful to me this way. How do I delete this template I created? Thanks
it only changed the design for me as well. At first I thought it was the spelling ($json vs $Json) when saving the content into the variable, but it did not make a diffrence for me. Let me know if you find a solution.
Hey there... i see you had recent success with this... do you have any tips on how to get my powershell updated to the point where i will be able to use the functions in the video? I am brand new to PowerShell.
When saving this as a custom template does it capture any changes made to the home page? I've tried to publish a template and it applies the themes except any home page changes
I did all the steps as it was, but after creating the site, the changes related to the template were not applied and no changes were applied to the appearance of the site. What should I do?
I'm having the same issue. Been trying to Google the issue, but have been coming up short in finding a root cause and solution. The site I'm using this command against just has a couple doc libraries and files. No added SharePoint apps or customizations.
Boy this sucks!! I have been using "save site as template" for years and now that feature is basically gone. Replaced with this mess. I think Microsoft said "lets see how difficult we can make it for SP Admins. This will cause lots of pain for people like me. Just Microsoft being microsoft. I hate microsoft. I wish I did not have to make a living using their software.
