Very lovely cookies! Thank you for sharing! I would like to make them as a party favor, but would also like guests to enjoy them. Has anyone tasted them? Was a little concerned when she said they'd be stale. Perhaps if the cookies are made the same day as they are frosted (cooled down first, of course) and painted 24h later, on the day of the event? Do you think this will help reduce staleness? Thank you very much in advance for your help!
I love the way you decorated the cookies. I make similar cookies for Christmas. Mostly a decorated Christmas tree. And it has been a struggle to paint with royal icing on royal icing using toothpicks! Definitely gonna use almond extract and food colouring with paintbrushes in the future. The cookies I make are spicy cookies, they don't really go stale, and its such a delight to eat painted Christmas tree cookies, even more so because its just beautiful cookies.

Cookies are good for seven days because you used real egg whites I would keep them in the fridge but if you were to use meringue powder instead they could be real temp for a couple of weeks just keep in mind
I got into cake decorating years ago and recently got into water colors. I knew I could paint on cakes but I never thought to use yhe watercolor techniques I've learned on your channel on baked goods. My mind is swirling with ideas. Thank you, ma'am!

Beautiful cookies! Don't most extracts contain alcohol too, though? I know vanilla almost always does unless you specifically look for one thats glycerin based but i don't think that's the norm.
Hey, the idea is that the vodka will evaporate before the moisture melts your icing glaze. If you don't want to keep vodka around you could use a clear flavour extract (ie almond) instead. That will impart a flavour, which is the reason I use vodka in the video, but it should work just as well visually.
wait wait wait! love the cookies and the video but u said raw egg whites in the frosting!!!!!?????😮 why r ppl saying its to dangerous to eat raw cookie dough? isnt it because of uncooked egg? my mom’s royal icing was powdered sugar, milk and vanilla extract, maybe melted butter? just wondering if raw egg is safe???? im not sure. but love love love all of your journal illustrations! thank u so much. these cookies are beautiful!!❤️
i agree. fantastic tutorial but people need to know to not use raw egg whites. you can buy pasteurized egg whites in cartons but people may not know this.
No, the icing won’t taste like egg. It’s basically a royal icing. When I make icing, I always add vanilla extract or some other flavoring. I’m not sure whether she used raw egg white or not, but I would recommend only using pasteurized liquid egg whites from the grocery store, or even easier, use merengue powder.
