I didn't think it would automatically set up a 2 page pdf with numbering only on Front pages, but it did it! I was worried I'd have to spend hours on this file for print. Thanks so much!!!
Thank you so much! I use In-Design for our newsletter. This help save us some $$ to create some 'serialized' weather-proof stickers. Love you attitude & passion. You're so pretty! :)
YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER !!!!! i subscribed and i liked this vid and i'll like every sigle vid on this channel after watching it , soooo worthy soo useful , this tutorial helped me to print and cut 23 000 tickets ! , you really saved my work ! thank you so much
@@GDHT Just throwing this out there.... I now need to somehow insert every other page now in this ticket document (for the back side of them). Do you know how I could do that?
Great video. How can I separate the group tickets to email them as digital images to individuals. Is there an auto reply software that will send them to incoming emails? I'm looking to create sequential numbered images that will be sent as an auto reply to emails.
I don't know how to data merge with email, but I do think it's possible, because I've had emails that had a number or code in them that was specific to me.
Hello, when I add the file to the data merge sheet it doesn't show the title like what you have, but only untitles spreadsheet. I can't get into my textbox.. any idea what could be wrong?
I need the tickets to be numbered so when multiple pages are cut together, the numbers end up in the correct order. So the first number on page 1 will be 0001 and the first number on page 2 will be 0002 and so on. Not 1,2,3,4 on the same page. Is that possible? Also I'd like to fit 15 tickets on my page, not the 10 it is giving me ... I didn't add any spacing. Thanks for any pointers.
Here's a solution for the first part: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kaV2A0jVTc8.html. How big is your ticket, and are you trying to fit 15 on an 8.5x11 page?
hi dear, im so greathful and thankful to you for posting this tutorial very simple and clear , this video have shocked me and saved me alot of time , i used to put numbers manualy but since you unlocked a new opportunity for me with this tutorial i have purchased a raffle perforation machine just to sell more rafle tickets, much love
Hi hope you are doing good. Is there a way you can show how to generate barcode for tickets which can be scanned once for access control of an event. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
I had this problem at the printing house where I work, customer needed pages numbered like this 1 1 2 2 3 3 ...it's some kind of a receipt book in which one copy stays in the book and the other one goes to customer. Can you help me with this one? I already finished this one but guys sorting out the pages werent happy, they want cut and stack type of print... I must say you are brilliant in explaining complicated stuff
Thank you so much!! When I was at a printing company, we would export as a PDF, then use Acrobat imposition software to easily duplicate the pages and collate them. Does your company have imposition software? The one we used was called Quite Imposing.
can you help me? i have followed your directions but not sure how to get the image to repeat on the page? i hit multiple records and its only showing one per page
Hi! This is exactly what i was searching for as i need to do 1000 tickets with serial number each. Although, is there a way or tutorial where we can print double sided on in design? for instant, the front page will be the serial number, and the back page will be the t&c
I'm so glad to hear that! Is this something you're printing yourself? If so, you'll need to put that 'back page' on every other page (so, page 2, 4, 6, 8, etc). If a printing company is doing it, you can give them a separate file for the back page and tell them to put that on the back of each ticket.
Is there a way where you can do this for illustrator. I know you can do the numbering on there but I want to have that option where I can have multiple on one PAGE like what you had here (multiple records on one page). This is for printing on massive machines and we cant send through one page or multiple page pdfs at a time but rather all set up on one sheet.
Tremendously helpful though I do have a question, is it possible for the numbers to count down the stack of pages for bulk cutting rather than sequentially on a single page? Does that make sense? So like Page One would Have Ticket 0001, 0501, 1001, 1501, 2001, Page 2 would be 0002, 0502, 1002, 1502, 2002; etc.
This is a great video. You made the process very easy to understand. But I am having a issue. I am using inDesign CS6. It isn't wanting to number a second box on the end of my ticket. Do you think the older version is causing this problem?
I don't think this feature has changed in a very long time, but I can't remember needing to do this back when I was using CS6...so maybe it wasn't available? Seems odd, though. Sorry I don't have a better answer for you.
@@GDHT I recently started a new job and never needed to know how to do anything like this. I am just glad your video got me close to where I needed to go. I look forward to watching more of your videos. Thanks for your help.
Not necessarily ID cards, but I'm thinking the process should be similar to a business card - I do have one for that: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sX1JQ39c3DI.html
This isn't about number. Several years back I knew how to setup tickets and copy in such a way that I just had to change the wording in the first ticket and it would immediately show a quotation within a yellow triangle so that all I had to do was click on the triangle and it instantly updated. Unfortunately I have forgotten how to do this. Can you help me out? When you have 24 tickets per page it is an easy way to do it. Far easier than step and repeat.
@@GDHT Just figured it out. Sure its not the way I did it before but who cares! What I did was produce the ticket then moved the original off the sheet onto the pasteboard. Then under Edits there is "Place and Link". I then placed into the first ticket area. Using "Step and Repeat" I moved it Horizontal across the page. Next highlighting the entire first row do the same vertical for the number that will fit on the page. At this point when you make a change in the ticket on the pasteboard all tickets on the sheet will be highlighted. Now if you go to the link panel it will also show all the errors. Hit the 4 lines and go to where it says "Update All Links" and you're done. I tried it where I did a data merge and it changed all the tickets in the merge. This is especially useful when you are asked to make tickets by various groups. You only need to make the change to the original on the clip board. I also use it for meeting cards or anything that requires updating a entire sheet with the same info.
CAN U HELP ME IF A SINGLE PDF HAS ALREADY 8 TICKETS ON IT AND I HAVE 350 ART BOARDS LIKE THAT. I WANT ALL TOHAVE NUMBERS IN SEQUENCE FROM 00001 TO 2800. SO EACH PAGE WILL HAVE 8 NUMBERS FROM 00001 TO 00008 AND SO ON TILL 2800.
The way I would do this would be to add a column in your spread sheet for each ticket. Your first column would be 1-350, second would be 351-700, and so on. On your first page, you would have numbers 001, 351, 701, etc. After you print them, you can cut them, and they will stay in order that way, from 1-2800.
You would need to make each bar code into a photo, then you could do a similar process like this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JRfcX-rdXDc.html
Do you have a tutorial on linking a google sheets table, with an InDesign file? Where when a number updates and the site would show you the most recent numbers.
InDesign won't update unless you go through the Data Merge process again (but it's very quick once you get the hang of it). I'm not sure what you mean by 'site' - do you mean the document?
This was a lifesaver. One question...when I type in my numbers to the google spread sheet and format them, it changes them to increments of 10. 001 goes to 011 and 002 goes to 022 so I end up with 011, 022, 033, and so on. Any suggestions?? Thx!!!
@@GDHT - When I want to do the Data Merge now, it doesn't let me choose multiple records, as it is greyed out. Any ideas why? I can seem to do data merge regardless, but it takes forever to process... Anything I can do to make this go fast? I have 100 tickets to create.
Sorry, I'm just now seeing this! Sometimes replies to comments get buried on our end, so it's best to always start a new comment instead of replying. It does sound like if it's greyed out, something isn't set up right. As far as taking a long time to process, that's most likely your computer's RAM. How much do you have?
HI Madam, I have struggled for two days, I have created 500 pages of the QR attendance system in Indesign, but our client needs serial numbers to add to it, the problem is I have made 500 existing pages, how to create serial numbers for existing pages because data merge creates an automatic paging system, but I don't want that, if you can help me even with a suggestion that will be a very big help. Thank You
I think your best bet is to do a script (I don't know much about script writing). Here's an article I found: graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/13359/unique-serial-number-on-page-each-time-a-pdf-or-indesign-doc-prints
@@GDHT Hi madam, I just found a way by numbering and section option I change the page number as a voucher number, and I do it as always, current page number
@@GDHT All is alright, thank you for considering my question... if you can make a tutorial about sequential numbering for existing pages, please upload it will be a tremendous help and much appreciated in such complex situations. Thank You Always
whats the best way to number the tickets so that when the tickets are cut the stack is in the correct number sequence? The way its setup here seems easy but once they have been cut the ticket numbers will be out of order.
If you print on a digital press you can use Fiery Impose to set up the job so when you gang it up you change it to "Collate-Cut" and it will automatically sort the stacks for you. If you don't, you'll have to do some manual layout. I would use a script named "MultiPageImporter". That script allows you to place specific pages from a PDF file into InDesign. It also allows you to move the imported pages so you can create a multi-up layout. For example, a 100 record ticket that you print 4-up, you can place pages 1-25 in row 1, then 26-50 in row 2, etc. and then you'll have everything in the proper sequence so you can stack cut it.
As Mike mentioned, imposition software will do this for you. We used to use one called Quite Imposing, although I don't even know if that's still around. :)
I would just do as many columns as the number-up of tickers. For example, let's say you have 4 tickets up on your sheet and you need 400 Tickers. On your spreadsheet do one column C1 from 1-100, C2, the second column, 101-200 and so on. When you bring in your CSV file in InDesign, it will list each column as a separate variable, C1, C2, C3, C4, and then you just need to place the variables accordingly on your layout. Hopefully I made sense. EDIT: Dont do multiple records, just 1.
Hi. Great tutorial! Thank you! Is there a way to create the number sequence on an NCR form? When check print 2 of each page, Indesign will only print one. I even exported as a pdf and tried to print 2 each that way and it will just not work. Thanks, Cheryl
Thank you! It sounds like your page size might not be large enough to hold 2...or InDesign thinks that's the case (I've run into this before, even when 2 will easily fit). Try making your page size huge and see if it works then.
I am working on making auction paddles for an upcoming auction. I am needing to make 500 paddles. My format is a double-sided paddle and they are 2-up per page. I am having a difficult time figure out how to make it so two text boxes are the same number but have 2 paddles per page.
Instead of creating 2 per page to start with, let InDesign handle putting multiples on the page - Just create the design with the 2 text boxes, like in the video. If you follow the tutorial, those 2 text boxes will have the same number. Then if more will fit on a page, InDesign will add them.
I found my issue - in case this helps anyone else. My ticket was 5.5" and my document was 11" wide. For some reason it didn't think I had enough space for 2 columns (apparently), so it was only making one. To fix this, I made my document slightly larger (11.25") and will just change it back to 11" before finalizing the file. Also found out that if you have a template layer (even if it's hidden/locked) it will mess things up. I simply made a new file and copied my design into there. THANK YOU, THANK YOU for the hours of time you've saved me!!
