Excellent, you explained this very well. It is part of the foundation and building block of building a report, if this part is incorrect, the rest can fall down, often with inaccuracies not picked up until much later, and these can be costly when relying on BI. 😉✔

It was helpful that you broke it down like a tree structure. For example, you said there are 3 types of cardinalities, and with Many-to-Many, there are 2 ways to implement it. Thank you for your clarity!

Once again thanks for the video and your response, however, the absence of EDIT QUERIES button is causing a lot of confusion, some argued that if all data is transformed there will be little or no need for the edit queries. Two things are not clear i. is the button hidden with another name ?. ii. Will transform data help when one need to append or merge. Many new and old users are raising this on different forums.

Bale, Thanks for stopping by. I think you are referring to the "Transform Data" feature within Power BI Desktop. In this tutorial, I'm creating a calendar table with DAX, so, we won't have access to edit this table with Power Query that uses the M language. The reason for this is that DAX and M are two different languages and are not integrated as far as I know. If you'd like to edit your calendar table within Power Query, you will need to create a calendar table with Power Query by using the M language. Please answer how do the delivery time dates changed?@11.53 Iam not getting after relationship is established.

Rosal Channel, thanks for your question. The delivery time values change right after the relationship is created. If this is not working, you might want to double-check the following: 1) Key/Common column between ClaimsU and Channel should be "customer" 2) The data type for the key/column should be the same for both tables (data type: text) 3) Cardinality should be one-to-many (1 : *). One (1) for ClaimsU and Many (*) for Channel 4) Cross filter direction should be "Single" 5) In the table in the report, "Customer" should come from the table with unique values (ClaimsU table)

What if we have for exemple more than two table and the table 1 is related to table 2 and table 2 is related tp table 3 My question is Is the filter will work between table 1 and 3 or no?

Mohand, That's a good question. Yes, according to your example that's possible. When you apply any filters, make sure to select the common column with unique values. Keep up the good work!

Hey great video! I have 3 tables and all 3 contain zip codes. Even after appending queries as new and removing duplicates I still get the message that the relationship is many to many. Even after removing duplicates why does it give the same message?

That's interesting! Make sure that the new relationship is between the new table (the one that was just created) and the fact table in the model. Also, double check that the headers are the same for the 3 tables that you are appending. If the headers spelled differently, you will have different results. I hope that helps!

Thanks for this, you're great...I have one question: why when we load the table into Power BI, a number are being added next to the table name, Like Channel1, CliamM2...etc

Muhammed, Thanks for stopping by. This might be happening because Power BI is recognizing the table twice and by default a number is being added to the original table name. To solve it, you might want to rename the table in Excel (before uploading it to PBI) or in Power BI itself. I hope it helps. Cheers!

I have one doubt can you explain it briefly this question was asked in interview: 1) why should we use one to many relationship give some examples and explain 2) If we take many to many Relationship In power bi what would happen , y Don't We concern many to many give me some examples Please share i couldn't answers these questions

1) In a one-to-many relationship, you can just connect one item from a table to many items from another table. This approach is helpful because we can be 100% sure that just one item is connecting to the other table's items. When you are filtering data, the column from the one side table should be selected. 2) In a many-to-many relationship there is ambiguity and the outcome might not be the expected one.
