Simplify your abstract collage with this tip!
I always start my mixed media work with a fun intuitive random collage. I'm NOT worried about the product, the process is so liberating, especially when I put on some lively music and have some cool papers to use up!
In this video, I show the first stage in finding shapes within your collage base. Take tracing papers and a sharpie to integrate areas and create shape templates. This is a really important step. Often people feel that they need to impose something different on their painting and forgetting that the inspiration comes from the piece itself!

This is the way I work and teach. It takes away the fear of not knowing what to do next if we are in the process as opposed to getting stuck in the final product or in some way imitating someone else's art. It's YOURS! Own it, LOVE it and LEARN from it!!!
