It is nice how you show much consideration to more contrasty styles if that is someones thing but like you it is soft light every time for me and your vids have helped me confirm this within myself as I just found shiny highlights to be to much and not my thing , also may I add that in getting your light source close it is wrapping so much as the relative size increases that here we find a point of artistic control and you have perfectly almost eliminated shadows but they are still there and your work still has dimension , good point on subject size as this had crossed my mind too thinking over a person vs a small object . Soon I will be knocking on the doors of hotels and restaurants with a free food shoot to prove my worth in the hope of getting hired to come back for menu changes etc and your vids have been so helpful . I have also to think in terms of my potential client base and what they can afford and time is money so keeping things simple seems to be the way to go and really nothing could be more simple yet I have noted how diff looks and feel can be had with more attention to light shaping in one of your vids . So having to travel to locations it will be a 95cm or 5 foot octo and strobe with a stand and boom and a large diffusion panel with stands and clamps just coz this is the lighting I already have and used and is like having that perfect window light on demand anywhere plus black and white cards a scissors and tweezers etc blue tack and little weights and as I can not afford a manfrotto tripod with a boom I will figure out as you did how to fix my cam to a c stand and boom arrm , oh I have tethering cable too which would be cool for overhead stuff or even hdmi to monitor , Thanks again , Allan from Scotland .

Just discovered your channel and subscribed. I don’t have great natural light in my apartment style townhome. But I would really like lighting identical to yours. Since my home light isn’t great, I figured I’d turn off my lights in my kitchen while I shoot videos. With that in mind; which light source do you recommend I purchase? And how many lights do you recommend?

Hi! Brand new novice here! I know this is a very basic basic question so please feel free to just refer me to another source - but how do you attach your diffuser to the stand? I bought the diffuser you linked, a stand and a clamp and I can't get the diffuser to stay upright, it just flops over. I've tried googling but keep getting articles *about* diffusers, not how to physically arrange them.

Hi Joanie, this is such a helpful video, thank you! I have a question about how you clamp the diffuser to a light stand. In the video it looked it like it was only clamped in one place. Is that really how it worked? I can't for the life of me clamp mine to a light stand, it's proving very frustrating. What clamps do you use? I need clamp help, obviously. :) Thank you!
@TheBiteShot
@TheBiteShot 5 лет назад
Here are the clamps I use: bhpho.to/2Ca7z0b. I find one works just fine for a smaller diffuser like this one and that two work fine for a larger diffuser.
