Very nice demo. Can't believe they don't have a built in tool.

Thanks for making this video! I learned a lot when attempting this with a 1/4-20 thread. A couple of things I discovered.... For smaller threads you have to create the "triangle" wire of the thread with perfect dimensions or you will get faults. I had to break open the machinist handbook to get exact dimensions. If the "triangle" feature is too big for the helix, the geometry will run into itself and cause a fault. It took me a bit to figure out that's what was happening. The internal flat, in the valley of the thread, is not exactly on the helix start point. Its actually shallower than the true v point of the thread. (the triangle wire is not touching the helix wire) I also didn't really line up the helix start point with any other part features and creating the plan on the helix point still worked fine. Last little thing, you can create the triangle lines on 30' just by setting the degrees when creating the line instead of using the rotation function.

Great time learning this. Created a file with the geometry that works . Merged it with my part file with out the threaded holes . Applied the Sweep geometry to each hole (8 holes translated to )and swept the helix. It created a positive of the sweep ( didn't cut the main model) and went to Boolean and removed the thread to cut the main body! Sweet! Been using Mastercam off and on since '92 when it was a 2.5 D system. was a Catia user too but retired now building a telescope mount .

Alternative: Import a fastener, put it in place and boolean remove the common area.

The difference is my way is educational. And some threads are made to a different percent of threat engagement This way you can control exactly what you need. But if it is of no concern and you're not curious how a threat is made then I suggest buleon

Something I ran into, I was trying to make OD threads and it wasn't allowing me to select "cut body", and was generating a solid body instead of a cut. I had to select a target body (pointer right below list of Types) after doing the Sweep operation, then click the solid I wanted to cut.

Same thing just happened to me. My solid was showing as so but wasn’t actually a solid body(I screwed up somewhere). Had to revolve my wireframe again into a solid.
