I love having little tags (1”x1.5”) to attach to my work, where I’ll put the hook size, the pattern I’m working on, or any pertinent information I might forget.
@roonilwazlib5402
@roonilwazlib5402 3 года назад
I always write these informations down as well (notes app on my phone), in case I want to do a second pair of socks or something, then I have all the informations in front of me and could do an exact copy if I want. Oh, and not only write down the hook, wool size and how many rows or mesh you did etc. but also how many cm/inches long that was. With that information you could also use a different hook size or wool and still be able to crochet the same size. This was very useful to me as a beginner.

Same, and I secure the tag/post it on the bag/box/envelope I'm storing the project in. I'm a bespoke tailor other than a crocheter, so labeling everything on the clearest way possible is an absolute need other than a very well ingrained habit.

For cutting yarn I love the “Yarn Cutter Pendant” by Clover. It’s nice for traveling especially when you cannot have scissors. It is safe if left out since the blade is in the pendant. And I can attach it to my crochet bag. By the way hubby heard the video and the part about it is not the type of bag but how many? He replied, “That’s the truth!” Hahahahaha

I just use bobby pins for stitch markers now. I mostly do amigurumi so it was annoying having to stop, unlock the stitch marker, move it and lock it again, just to repeat every round. Bobby pins are much easier and quicker for me

This isn't strictly a crochet necessity, but It has improved my crochet experience tenfold: *A lap kitty!* Hahahahaha! But seriously, if you happen to have pets, especially cats who love to play with loose thread, I would list yarn bowls as a necessity. Since I started using one I haven't had to untangle my cat from her woolen death trap! PS: YES! I agree cats are the best!

A lidded coffee cup! I've always got coffee on the go and the thought of spilling it over work (or my laptop where I'm reading the pattern from!) doesn't bear thinking about! What a great video (as always though!) - my favourite scissors are a pair of tweezer like ones I got in a craft fair in Glasgow about 10 years ago for about £2 and they're on their way out but I've managed to find a near identical pair on amazon - yay!

I've been crocheting since 2016 and have collected many different brands of hooks in order to find the ones I like the most. Those Clover hooks are my absolute favorite and I recommend them to anyone. She's not kidding when she says "they glide through any yarn." They really do and I adore the handle shape and feel.

My list of Must haves is getting bigger, as most others the chart reader looks interesting, but the gauge ruler is going to be a first. I think that will be a long term investment, some say crochet isn't a cheap hobby, I tend to disagree, it can be either cheap or expensive, people with less cash to splash can certainly make beautiful things with a hook n cheap yarn, there's no need to over spend when you are a beginner crocheter. I think scaling your gear and habit up as you go along is less daunting, That is how it worked for me, practice practice practice, and yes cats definitely rule, I have 3 beauties rarely can I sit and crochet without one of them on my lap. 🐱🐱🐱

That chart reader was the coolest thing! I’m just learning how to crochet, started right before Christmas and I started with just video tutorials and recently went to patterns but I never print them, just use my iPad and made a GoodNotes doc with a picture of the project, list of materials and notes for myself snd then a link to the online pattern. If the project didn’t have a link I wrote a pattern out for myself nothing fancy. It’s been a huge help but that chart reader makes me want to print them lol I also think I need a row counter, for now I just use scraps of paper or a post it and jot down how many rows I need and cross one out each time. It’s a good method for me so far but a row counter would’ve useful. Your channel has been entertaining and helpful on my new journey to this hobby. Thanks so much!

It is always good to have more than one tape measure especially when the tab end is close to coming loose due to use. I have a tape measure similar to the one you showed that I can no longer use. The tab end broke off and now it is useless because the tape measure is now stuck.

...or... especially when you live with your husband and your four adult children who "borrow" your tape measure and then put it down somewhere, never to be seen again!

I had the same one but pink - the outer casing gave out and now I have a standard foldable tape measure, plus an oddly-sized spring and a few plastic pieces 🤦😅

I've bought 3 tape measures like that, but I'm not sure where any of them are... I also have several regular old fashioned 1s that you just roll up, I can locate 1 or 2 if I go looking. (I think my craft shelf has like a black hole...)

Thanks so much for this video. I love the chart keeper. I use an app for keeping track of projects for knitting and crochet which has a stitch counter too
