I took a break crocheting because I lost my daddy in December.. but I’m back and honestly this is what I needed!!! I’m putting all of my love for my daddy into this one.. Thank you for this video! -love a grieving friend from Chicago 🩷
I'm so sorry to hear that 💖 I hope your blanket turned out well, I'm just starting to learn at 36 😅 Haven't even gotten the hooks I ordered yet but I'm looking for an easy blanket to start with. Sending love and healing hugs from Ireland 🇮🇪💖
after playing with this stitch, my son with sensory issues fell in love with the swatches. Took me a while, but I made him a queen size blanket in this stitch. We spent a fun day shopping for a yarn he liked. I just want to say thank you for this tutorial.
I have watched many videos and yours is the first one that I have ever had someone cheer me on. 'You've got this' 'I will see you at the end of the row' you area great teacher!
I have been crocheting for 40 years and watching / learning on youtube for many years ! YOU ARE THE EASIEST PERSON to listen to 🤗🤗 so cute and fun ! Thank you and im subscribed !!!! Have a happy day Tiffany !!!
I crochet baby blankets for a local hospital. Ever since I discovered you, I only make your patterns! They are all beautiful and work with any yarn I have used. I especially love your Easy Baby Blanket for Absolute Beginners, sleepy baby blanket. I just finished my THIRD blanket using that pattern and couldn’t be happier. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and expertise.
I don't ever comment but I really need to say thank you. I love crochet and knitting but I can only basically do chains. I cannot read patterns and any other videos I found stress me out and overwhelmed me. I am so thankful I came across this video and I am almost in tears excited that this is a pattern that I can understand and do! Thank you so much!
This is a fabulous beginner project. I literally just taught myself to crochet on this blanket. I love how it turned out. The first few inches went slow bc I was starting from almost no knowledge but the rest flew by! Thank you.
Started this blanket with 300 stitches, man o man, it’s taking forever for it to grow. The stitch produces a heavy blanket though and will be lovely when it’s finished.
Oh my goodness! That will be a big blanket! Yes it will grow slowly but that’s just because of the size. It will look beautiful!!! Keep with it. Hopefully you picked a yarn color that you love to keep you inspired with the project. 😊❤️🧶
I'm late to the party, but from jewelry crafting... we always glue our knots. I'll be blending our ways and glue both the knot and the end of the woven tail. Thanks for the glue knowledge! But I came for the pattern and it it so pretty and so easy. And reversible! Thanks again~
This blanket is gorgeous!! A few things I need to mention: .....I learned to crochet when I was 18 and now I am in my 60's. I have also won many awards for my work. Always leave a long tail for weaving in ends!! Never leave a short tail. When the piece is washed over and over the ends WILL come out!! It must be sturdy to last a lifetime! Make sure you weave in with a needle and weave every thread in opposite directions. NEVER use a hook or glue when weaving in ends! !! Your ends should be at least 7 inches long or more for a secure weave. If the yarn has multiple plies you can also separate them and weave all of those in instead. It's up to you but this makes it much less able to undo when washing and using the blanket.
The glue. O-m-g! Game changer. I’m currently making a blanket and using this glue as I go. I’ve been knitting and crocheting for 40 years and just over the top excited and happy with this glue. I use the tip of a toothpick to shove it inside a stitch and it’s hidden and secure. THANK YOU for the best and helpful tip ever! 👍🏻❤️
Love your tutorials! As a newbie to crochet, I just completed my first blanket using this tutorial and it turned out awesome! So easy to follow. I am definitely subscribing to learn more. Thanks!
Hi I Like Squirrels 1234! I love that you and your mom have started crocheting together! That is so heartfelt and just so cool. I hope you like my videos. Let me know if you have any questions. 😊🧡🧶
So glad I watched this love the stitch and the glue went right out and bought a bottle and it works perfect thank you I have been crocheting for 50 years and never knew about the glue I started crocheting when I was 10 😃
I'm starting mine today. So far all is going well, I'm a beginner self taught through youtube. I have made several beanie hats and scarves and even a pair of mittens. This is going to be my first blanket. Wish me luck!
I made an afghan using this stitch with Lion brand Mandala yarn Made it with the stripes running vertically. I think it turned out very well. I love this stitch.
Thanks for sharing! I’ve crocheted for over 30 years and never thought to use fabric glue. I always use a needle to weave in my ends but you are correct that no matter how good you are those ends WILL pop out eventually. Just because your family/friends don’t tell you doesn’t mean they don’t pop out! I appreciate this tip and thanks again for sharing!👍🏻
You are most welcome! I'm so happy I could bring up something new for you after 30 years of crocheting. That's really cool! Thank you so much for sharing! 😊💖
I’ve got a crocheted lap granny rug my mum made 80 years ago and it’s been used constantly and not a single end has come out. I think it depends on how you weave them in.
I've crocheted over 40 years and used many different fabric glues. It does works but you need to be careful to make sure to use the smallest amount or it will to dry very hard and be noticeable in touch as well as sight.
@@Soffity Probably, also, what fiber the yarn is, will affect the outcome. I have bamboo yarn that I don't think I would trust to hold it's ends in, for example.
@@ashleyvincent1860 I’ve used bamboo 70% wool 30 % yarns but not 100% bamboo. The ends haven’t come out so far and it’s been 6 years. I hear you can get glue that stays soft when it sets so you don’t have hard lumps but I’ll stick to my crochet in as I go technique as it’s worked for me so far.l fingers crossed.
Tip: Instead of having ends sticking out where you attach a new skein, I use an invisible join. It produces a very small knot with no ends and is virtually undetectable.
Hi Luna! Yes! I completely agree. I made this blanket tutorial before getting introduced to the invisible knot and now yes that is the way I would go. Thank you so much for the tip 😉❤️🧶
What a lovely stitch! Thank you for sharing. It makes me so happy to see young women who love yarn and who love making beautiful projects that will be treasured for years!
Love the blanket, love the way you teach. But in over 40 years of crocheting and knitting I can give you two tips - Never join in the middle of a row & never use glue
I’ve been crocheting for 40 years too, and I was like: “what are you doing?! You never use glue on a project!” She didn’t leave ends that were long enough to weave in correctly. I think she was given very bad info when she was taught to crochet. I think she really doesn’t know any better. She also doesn’t know how to weave in the ends correctly and anchor the ends of the stitches right. I think that if she knew how to do it right she’d be an excellent teacher, but that part alone is really throwing people off.
@@kaprikablitz4476 the point is, that its not working for her if she has to use glue and she is putting this out there as a tutorial for others. Handcrafts such as this can be handed down from generation to generation with much love and reverance for the hard work and love that is included in every stitch - this can all come undone (pardon the pun) at some point
I have over 50+ years crocheting. My mother taught me a knot to join yarns and for the end of the project that not even my husband can pull apart or can you tell where you joined. And if use it at the end it is so invisible I have my own mark so I know where my project ends once you know how to make it and place it. I perfected it over the years. I have projects I made ten years ago that have been washed and dried more times then I can remember using my knots. But hey those are my knots and choice. So if she uses glue to make sure her excess yarn doesn't pull up from where she joined. If it works it works. After all it is the excess yarn after she joined yarns together. Hey I have seen some very strong glue out there for crafts.
I tried this pattern and it took a few tries but I think I got it! I’m a newbie to crochet and love seeing all these different patterns and styles that can be created ❤thank you for the video
First of all thank you for the specific details in your video. Would not have been able to use this stitch without your video. However, I had to modify the pattern. The first row came out perfectly, front, back, front, back. Unfortunately, when I started the second row, crocheting opposite of the first row, it was too bulky for me. So instead, I did the first row with the front/back, the second row a plain double crochet all the way across. Going back the other direction for the third row I did the front/back stitches. I alternated rows the rest of the blanket & its beautiful. I've made a lot of afghans both for babies & for adults. I think this might be my favorite pattern. Thank you from Omaha, Nebraska
Just want to say "THANKYOU" for all the great tutorials and tips & hints! You are a wonderful instructor. So easy to follow...love how you show us how to join yarn. And love watching you also on the Crochet channel.
Thank you for really explaining how to end a row. As a newbie crocheter I find most tutorials and patterns don't explain this well and it can be confusing.
Tiffany, thank you so much for teaching me this stitch. I have a #6 bulky yarn I bought for my daughter and did a sample. You were absolutely right, this stitch looks gorgeous on all yarn types! I also glued my ends as you suggested and have had great luck with that method. Nice and secure! Love your channel and your manner of teaching! Thanks again! 😀
I am so happy that you had such a great experience with this pattern and the fabric glue! Not surprised, this pattern is so pretty. Thank you so much for watching! 😊❤️🧶
Thank you so much for teaching this stitch, which you do so clearly! I absolutely love this stitch, perhaps it’s the woven look of it which seems so fresh & new. I’m doing a soft variegated cotton yarn of Peaches & Crème brand, and it’s so pretty & so relaxing as you said. I especially like how you do the end of each row. You have made it all so simple to follow! Thank you!
Very nice stitch and your explanation is straightforward and easily understood. Thank you for this pattern. I will be doing it a bit tighter as I will be making a child's blanket for Keep America Warm. Something a little more special than single and double crochet. Thank you again!
Hi Alixandrina! How awesome! I'm glad you like this stitch. So happy it will be used to make a blanket to help Keep America Warm. Thank you so much for sharing. 😊🧡🧶
Gotta thank you for making a video I can FOLLOW ! I’m left handed and I just can’t seem to “ follow” anyone who tries to teach me ? Frustrating ! But I have tried to go this WITH you and SUCCESS 😁🙌🏼💕THANK YOU !!!
Hi Rose! Oh my goodness I am so excited that you were able to follow my video successfully after having some frustrating experiences. I can only imagine. I have been asked to make videos left handed but I need to practice that a little more. I am awful left handed. 😄 Thank you so much for sticking with it and choosing my video to follow. I am so proud of you! 😊❤️🧶
Thank you for this! Your instructions were clear and easy enough for a beginner crocheter to get. I now have a new way to make a blanket besides the never ending granny square. 😊🧶
I always wash after I complete a project, (blanket) it’s amazing how much softer a blanket gets in the DRYER. A lot of the weight of yarn is the dye. Of course never do that with wool. Never saw anyone use glue before, it’s not a bad idea. Nice stitch, btw.
I'm using Bernat baby crushed velvet yarn and I'm enjoying making a throw with this stitch. Your really know how to transmit knowledge, you're a great teacher Tiffany. You are also sharing finishing tips, I will definitely apply them too. Thank you so much!
Hi Neyda! I love that you are using the crushed velvet yarn. I bet that is so pretty and so soft! Thank you so much for the compliment. I am so glad that I could be helpful. 😊🧶🧡
I love the stitch and your blanket is beautiful. Thank you for sharing your time and the information, great tutorial. I have a learning disability, so I learn by re-watching all of my you tube gurus, y'all are so brave doing videos. I love being able to come on and learn at my own pace for free. I'm too OCD to glue 🤣 I totally worry about my work falling apart in the wash, so I leave decent length tails in sew them in nicely. Tails are my personal security blanket, pun intended lol.
In my 58 yes I never glued any yarn. Might want to think ahead of your project and use a old fashion knot. Over time and washings there is no way my kids blanket could survive. Love your work and keep up the good work.
Finally, someone else holds their hook like I do...like a pencil...not over-handed. I used to think there was something wrong with me, but I taught myself to crochet and like a pencil is the only comfortable way for me to hold the hook.
Same here, I learnt to crochet when I was 11, 65 years ago, a school friend taught me in the playground during break! In the years that followed I bought several books with tuition and patterns and they all said that this was the correct way to hold your hook. I find all this knife style holding quite awkward to watch and I am always amazed when the work turns out fine 😀.
I am just picking up crocheting again and I love your channel to help teach me. I never really got good, so with your videos I think I will stick with it this time and get better at patterns. Thank you!
you just changed the game by giving the fabric glue trick! OMG! I am fairly new to the crochet world having only been crocheting for two years. I took it on because I had knee reconstruction and needed something to do and just kept it up and LOVE IT!
Haha nobody’s said that yet. Change’n the game. There are definitely people that are excited to try it out and well some people that aren’t and that’s ok. But for me, it’s magic 😉. So glad you started crocheting! It’s so much fun ❤️🧶
I have boxes of yarn that I fell in love with at the store and bought with no idea in mind what I was going to do with it....Just knew I needed to have it! lol
It amazes me that of all the patterns and whatnot I've looked through, you're the FIRST to suggest fabric glue to keep those darn ends from coming out. I've finished maybe 4 projects now and woven the ends in and kind of looked at them distrustingly....definitely buying fabric glue now though! Thanks for the video!
Awesome! So happy I could provide a possible trick for you to keep in your pocket. 😉. I’m actually releasing a video Friday about weaving in ends and I do talk about the fabric glue a little more in detail. You should really check it out especially if you’re thinking about buying some! 😁👍🏻❤️🧶
that's because most crocheters and knitters never use glue. google a spit-join or a russian join. that connects your two pieces of yarn as you're crocheting them and you don't have ends to weave in. it's also strong and you don't have to worry about them coming apart. if you do have ends to weave in, use a tapestry needle and make sure to go into/through the stitches (splitting the yarn) as you weave the ends in. they'll be fine without glue. if you use a hook like in this video they aren't really bound to anything and they'll work their way out.
Loved this tutorial, you explain everything so clearly and I appreciate that you go over the same thing plenty of times, thankyou. I recently returned to knitting after many years and I’m looking forward to having a go at crochet. I think this would be a great place to start. Thankyou for sharing😊
Be forewarned! This pattern makes a very heavy blanket. For a throw it would be fine but my super queen blanket is super heavy and there's no way my washing machine will be able to handle the weight when wet.
My sister just sent me this video! Too funny, she was requesting her sports team color Afghan. She likes this color combo as this color for this team, and on and on! She is a true sports fan! I chuckled and thought easier then 3 Afghans for her football 🏈, basket ball 🏀 and baseball teams! ⚾️ Smart! I LOVE the colorway and pattern, thus, I need to get shopping, crocheting and gifting it appears! 💗❤🧡💛💚💙💜🖤
Yes! SAME!!! I've tried crochet over the years and will make a few things(basic endless sc or dc) and get bored because new stitches are so hard to get being self taught but this video is very clear so I have subscribed and cant wait to learn new stitches from this woman!!!
You are so right. I am doing this stitch with my current project. Its simple and versatile with any wool. Beautiful pattern formed and if you do make an error, you soon find out a few stitches ahead. Thank you so much
This is the first time me viewing your channel I absolutely love the way you teach step-by-step I am absolutely a beginner please keep up the good work
I always am learning something new. Thank you for the fabric glue secret. I will be using this in future projects. I've always hidden tails but never used the glue. I will from now on.
Do not use glue on a yarn project. Just weave in the ends correctly and they won’t come out. First of all, she doesn’t leave ends that are long enough in the tutorial. Ends should be at least 8” long, and you weave them in with a yarn needle, not a crochet hook. Follow the curves of the stitches and then anchor the ends in the last couple of weaves by piercing through a yarn strand to hold them in . They’ll never pop out in the wash.
Great question! I want to Preference, I only recommend one fabric glue. Not all of them. The only one I recommend is Aleene’s Quick Dry Fabric Fusion. You can find it on Amazon, in Hobby Lobby and Joann’s. You only need to apply a small dot of glue to the bottom of tails and smooth onto the project so that is smooth and invisible. 🤗💖🧶
I’ve been crocheting for over 50 years and wove in my ends the entire time, I have never heard of fabric glue, I’m going to buy some tomorrow, thank you!
Hi Susan! I am so excited to have you give the fabric glue a try! Side note, I learned how to do the Invisible Knot trick after making this video to join a new skein of yarn into the project that completely takes away any need to weave in your ends within the project. I would highly recommend only using the fabric glue to weave in your beginning and ending tails now. Check out my tutorial link here to see me showing how to do the invisible knot. It's crazy easy and so fast. Time Stamp 16:58 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lLlzouuSwv4.html 👍😊🧡🧶
Wow! I’ve been crocheting all my life and never thought to use fabric glue! Lol I just ordered it from Amazon. There’s nothing more frustrating than the ends coming loose and then re-weaving them back in. Lovely stitch, I’m going to make a throw blanket using this stitch 😊
I am so glad I could show you, a seasoned crocheter, a new trick. It's so exciting learning something new to something you have been enjoying for a long time. I hope you give this stitch a try. It's one of my favorites to both use on projects and play with. 😊❤️🧶
Thank you ! I hadn't crocheted in a very long time. I just finished a little baby blanket using this tutorial. I used yarn that had multiple colors so I never had to switch colors and with this pattern I did not have to count. Great way to get back into it. Also loved the info on joining up the yarn from multiple skeins.. Great explanations.
I'm new at all this - just finish a baby blanket and decided I'd store it away - all because I did crochet my ends "into" the blanket - but they all see to be coming up...so I am now going to try the fabric glue - it might actually save this project! thank you.
Hi Patricia! Oh my gosh this is the perfect situation where the fabric glue really shines. Make sure that when you get your fabric glue it says on the label that it dries Clear and Flexibly. Super important. Not all Fabric Glue does. I have attached product links in the description part of my videos if you want to check out what I use. You don't have to buy from the link but it gives you a visual of what you should be looking for. Good Luck with those ends! Oh I am so excited for you to finish this baby blanket and have it ready for baby! Let me know what you think of the Fabric Glue if you try it. 😊💖
I just loved your video on how to work this beautiful stitch! Thank you so much for offering this to the public that wants to learn. You are so pretty and explained everything very clearly and with a smile! Can’t wait to see your other videos!
Hi Tiff, 58 year young guy here, whose been crocheting since I was 5 years old. Not as far advanced as I should because I'm left handed, and, have crocheted left handedly since o picked up the craft from my grama. I've gotten "the look" from instructors-like I'm an alien freak from planet Zorg! I've gotten belittled, berated and treated right in front of a group of people, like I'm a second class citizen because of my left handedness. I haven't been able to get the instruction tutorial pages from any craft store-not just because they don't carry them, yet, it's like I got installed as the charter member of "the freak of the week" club! There are several stitches I need to get the tutorial instructions for-WITH pictures-to aid me in learning these crochet skills! I just turned 58 on November 9th. If I were to send you the list of the stitches I'd like to learn, is there some way to get them from you, or, an outlet that I can request them from, and, getting them snail-mailed to me? Doug😵😫😿💔🥺
Hi Douglas. I'm so sorry you've had such a negative experience being a left handed person and left handed crocheter. That's not right. I would absolutely welcome you list of crochet stitches you would like to see left handed versions of. Now, just because I receive it doesn't mean I can knock everything out right away. I have to balance my content but I do try to get stitches out. I'm working on putting together a Left Handed Tutorials Only Channel to make it easier for my Lefties to find what project they want to watch. I hope this helps you out. I currently have a few Left Handed crochet tutorials you can check out. Feel free to email me your list of crochet stitches and I'll see what I can do. email: info@crochetwithTiffany.com
I’m so new to crochet but I think I can do this. I want to make a nice warm blanket for my son in the army. This one looks cozy and warm! You do a really great job explaining and cheering on!
I love the way this pattern is working up I'm making my sister-in-law and Afghan. I went up a hook size like you suggested. It's coming out so much softer I just love it thank you so much
Loved this tutorial! I've crochet baby blankets for years..have done alot of front posts and back posts to look like a basket weave. I absolutely love this stitch..how beautiful..especially with that yarn! I have always sew-in my ends with the same results you talked about. Can't wait to use the glue! You couldn't even see it when you are done! Well done!
Thank you so much! I’m excited for you to give the fabric glue a try. Make sure that the fabric glue you use dries clear and flexibly. Some don’t. I put a product link in the notes section. You can either purchase from the link or just look at what it is for a visual reference. Let me know if you use the fabric glue and what you think 😉😊❤️🧶
Hi, I'm a new student on your channel. I love your tutorial and you have a sweet voice. Thank you for sharing your talent with us. God bless and stay healthy! 😷❤🙏👍
