I being waiting for this video..... I have my yarn for about 3 years.... I'm a big fan of your work, I did the Up North Cardigan 4 times already...... BEAUTIFUL Cardigan..... Thank You for this video.... Now I can start my Fedora Hat 🎩
I made a hat without using wire and my hat looks pretty good, i used a cotton, thick cotton. The rib is floppy but its stiff enough that i can shape it
I have a question? I'm trying to use some cotton yarn that I have on hand. It isn't super chunky but looks fairly nice. How do I stiffen the portion of the hat bf the adding the brim? Can I stiffen the bucket portion, or should I add an inside stiff paper border that will give the hat the depth that using a chunky yarn would have done naturally? Thank you for your help.
Are you able to put this in the washing machine, if you already can put the yarn into one normally after a project is finished, or will the galvanized steel rope warp or something?
I really fell in love with the style of this cute hat. But how do you teach a tutorial in 7minutes? it was way to fast and not clear on the other rounds. For example, after Round 7 and you check your gauge. continuing on with instructions you say to { Rep Round 7, nine more times. ) I truely believe this is where everyone is finding the video and the written instructions are really not clear. you never state that in the Repeat of Round 7 to do what????? and repeat it nine more times. and that on the 16th Round we should have 96 stitches. How can we achieve this without clear instructions. So Round 7 would be the increase of 2 then 5 stitches and repeat? Or do we increase 2, then 6 stitches for that round ........ then 7 and so forth/ because the ending result at the 16 Round would be way over the 96 stitches you say we should have. And repeating round 7 the same way with 2 increase 5 stitches 9x it doesnt come out at all, Would you please correct your video to a little longer version and slower that will match the written. I am truely sorry for complaining , but i have crocheted for many years and this doesnt make any sense at all/ Could you please do another video much slower and more clear tutorial?
Ignoring what is said in the video which I do find confusing, the free written pattern is correct here. It says for round 7 you have to do 2 sc on marked stitch then sc to next marker - repeat this 6 times to make 42stitches. You then repeat this row 8 times (if making the large) which means the row increases by 6 stitches each time. Ends on row 15 where you have a total of 90 stitches. This ends the hat top. You then go onto the, what she calls the bucket part of the hat and stitch 20 rows of sc on these existing 90 stitches. Row 21 is another increase row the same as before - adding on another 6 stitches (96 stitches)
Your written pattern is very confusing and differs from this video tutorial. A few discrepancies between the two. I thought by watching the video it would clear up questions I had but instead, made it more confusing for me. Guess I'll frog it again (4th time) and make it up as I go. Too bad because I really like the style of this hat and other patterns aren't even close. I'm not trying to put down your pattern or video, just that I can't seem to figure it out is all. I love your style , although I have to sat in hesitant to try anything else.
I thought I was the only one struggling, but after counting and recounting, the stitches don't match the number in the written round. I really like the hat as well but the pattern is off and confusing. :(
I agree. I have now made 2 of these hats and the counts do not match. The pattern and video are different 😕 I too love this hat but can't get it a proper size due to the pattern seeming to be off. I have at least 6 patterns of hers saved that I was going to crochet but not I'm hesitant. Darn cuz her items are so adorable.
I agree, I also like a lot of her patterns. Unfortunately, I've had to figure them out for myself. The written patterns are not well thought out, and videos make them more confusing to me.
I’m making the fedora and I found the same problem. Not explicit enough. I basically had to write it out step by step. I’ll let you know how it turns out Update: I figured it out! Now I’m moving along and very happy. The odd brim rows increase by one each time the even rows are the count of the previous row.
I tried using the pattern for the Lion Brand Rewind yarn, and was unable to meet gauge no matter how small of a hook that I used nor how tight I made the stitches. Using the 5.5mm hook gave me 4-1/2" and a 4mm hook gave me 4" at round 7 vs. the 3" indicated. Going to a smaller hook size than this was un-workable with this particular yarn. I decided to continue just using dimensions instead of row counts, but the height of the crown wasn't provided. I don't think this pattern was tested for this yarn material.
Hi Jess... Thank you for sharing this super easy pattern for this hat! It works up fast! Question: How or where in the pattern would I alter to make this hat a minimum of 24 inches. The large (23 inches) on your pattern is slightly too small. Thank you! 💖✨
I agree. It seems like you’re talking about things in the video that you’re not doing on the video and you’re going way too fast without pausing, like you’re racing to get the instructions done. I downloaded my instructions a while back. I’m hoping that perhaps you will created a new set. I’m going to check now.
I want to make this Fedora sooo bad but this video instruction is too fast for me. I'm a visual learner and need to analyze what I'm seeing. I wish the creator would slow down for those of us who are slower or visual learners.
I bought all the supplies and now I just sit here staring at my phone screen watching the video over and over, looking like a deer in the headlights. It sux being a beginner. 🔘🔘🦌🙈
I am visual and do a lot of pausing till I get the rounds done. I must say this video is fast paced! She is talking like there is no tomorrow. So, if I choose to follow her visual it will be a challenge. I will check to see if there are other videos available, too.
