I've been crocheting for 46 years (I learned when I was 10) and I just learned those new tricks you taught - game changer for me! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and trying to sew in all the ends with a needle is hard and painful - so much easier the way you do it.

This is great! I've been working for hours following your instructions. I made 1 Sunburst square- 1 colour like your first video, knowing it was my very first granny square. And now, I'm following this for adding additional colours. I found on my first 1 there was a hole going from first row to second. I think I did something wrong when I tied off first row. I think I figured it out while watching this video. I made a baby blanket 20 years ago - 1 giant bubble granny square. I'm hoping to make a bunch of squares and join them for a summer blanket. Exciting.

I LOVE this pattern and am totally making the Hygge burst blanket as we speak with the recommended yarn and colors because I love your style and colors. So happy to have found your blog. Questions for you - 1) Do you have a strategy for keeping the squares organized while you're building them? I don't immediately recognize all of the colors. 2) Do you build the squares one at at time or do you do parts of them while you're working a specific color? This is my first time building a blanket of this size and variety. I'm sure if I mix up the squares it isn't such a big deal but I like to follow patterns to the letter my first time doing them. Thanks!
@nautikrallcrochet
@nautikrallcrochet 2 года назад
Hi Jill! So when I first made the blanket I was just putting squares together at random and laid them all out on the bed and then joined them up later. However, I’ve made it a few times since then and got to follow my own pattern-I do the squares in order…starting with square 1 and I stack them up to square 8. Just one on top of the other so that 8 is on top. THEN I do the continuous join and out that row together. It conveniently has my 8th square on top so I just crochet a rock my row all the way down my pile. Then I start working the squares for my second row the exact same way. This is how I’ve found it easiest to do. Hope it helps ☺️

This is beautiful. I'm new to crochet but did just complete the Macaroon Blossom Afghan by Astri, so I'm learning quite a bit. I'm wondering why you don't use an invisible join at the end of your last square to avoid that knot when finishing. Thanks so much. I'm going to try this square next. ;-)

Thanks!! I’m always trying to avoid sewing as much as possible. So, for me, the invisible join is an extra, unnecessary step-also, once all the squares are joined up, you won’t see any knots anyways. ☺️

@nautikrallcrochet 2 года назад
Oh gosh! There’s so many kinds. I’m a big fan of natural fibres-so merino, wool, cotton for clothing. I find acrylic doesn’t wear well (gets super pilly) and is sweaty when wearing it. My fav (affordable) merino is Swish Worsted from WeCrochet/Knit Picks. My favourite traditional wool is a tweed yarn called Wool of the Andes Worsted by WeCrochet/Knit Picks and I love Paintbox Cotton Aran (available on lovecrafts.com) for wearables!!

@nautikrallcrochet
@nautikrallcrochet 2 года назад
Cotton is really tricky for beginners. Cotton yarn tends to have very little (if any at all) stretch or give to it. So it's best to start out with other natural fibers like wool/merino or try acrylic. They'll all be a lot more forgiving than a cotton yarn. Once you get the hang of it--definitely try cotton again because it gives the puff stitches the most wonderful texture and vintage kind of vibe. :)
