4:05 how do 20 stitches (green) become 36(white)? If the green is 20 and we are putting one dc in each, with the exception of the corners, then that’s 20 stitches. With 3 dcs in each corner stitch that’s an extra 2 for each corner added to the total. And that only equals 28. Where are these other 8 stitches coming from? Did I miscount because yours looks great and mine turned into a triangle😂

This was obviously just a miscount error on her part and then that miscount, multiplied. You had 5 stitches per side in previous round so you'll dc in first 4 stitches and then 3 in the 5th. That will give you 28 stitches. In the next row you will be have 36 stitches. You can see clearly in her video for that white row that she is only working into 4 stitches before a corner. She also misspoke and said each round would be increasing by 16. That's obviously not correct. But the words on the screen then correctly state that it will be 8 stitches per round. So just follow what is logically true for making a square and those increases and disregard her math because if you calculate with one wrong variable, it all goes wrong, like you see here. But the video shows you what she's actually doing, despite the words. But I get that that can be really confusing, especially for newbies. P.s. if yours is a triangle, you lost a corner somewhere. Many squares have chains at the corners to clearly mark that corner, sharply. Using the 3 dcs in the corner makes for a rounded corner that one could easily miss if not looking out for it. I would suggest using a stitch marker in that center dc of each corner, moving up with each row, so you always know where to put those 3 dc stitches, which are your corners. Alternatively, instead of the 3 dc corners, you could work 1 dc, 2 chains, 1dc for the corners. This will make the corners more square which is preferable if your hips or butt are more curvy. The rounded square will bring the sweater in at the bottom, which only works well if your hips are more narrow. If you try this again, though, please don't just work over your tails, as shown in video. It isn't secure and your work could come apart in the wash. Leave a longer tail and weave those ends in. Or, better yet, just carry your yarn up on the back side/ inside of the work and you won't have a ton of tails
