I've been crocheting for a few years now and still have problems reading patterns, so I always have to look for RU-vid tutorials and this video is very easy to follow. I need to make a quick and easy baby blanket for a friend since her baby shower is next weekend. This yarn is extremely soft! I chained 50 like the patterned stated, but I would probably chain 74 if I was making it for a child or adult. I'm not sure if I'll use two skeins of yarn for the baby blanket since the blanket is coming out pretty quickly, but we'll see once I'm done with this skein. I would definitely use this pattern again for future baby blankets... possibly even for myself!!!
I'm a beginner, this is my go to every time. I've watched and listened many times. Mikey is a professional. I can use this one pattern for large yarn baby blankets, for regular size yarn for scarfs. It's amazing. Lots of practice helps me. Thanks Mikey.
How to Crochet with The Crochet Crowd , Thank you for the correction! 50 looks a little narrow to me, but then I have never made a baby blanket before. What should it measure to? Also, if I wanted to make a larger bed sized one, what should I take into consideration to get the sizing correct? Thank you so much for this pattern!!! It is just beautiful and Mikey’s videos are always a great find for me as I am more of a visual learner.
How to Crochet with The Crochet Crowd - I think maybe this is backwards. I am 19 rows in with a starting chain of 50 and it only measures 24” wide. According to written pattern it should be 34” x 36” at completion. I am thinking those extra beginning chains are needed to get the corrected length. Can anyone confirm, please?
Don't be so hard on yourself Mikey. I wouldn't say you failed anyone on this video if it is paused and used step by step as you say one stitch at a time it is easy to follow. I'm a beginner and that's what I did thank you for your work and help you doing great.
Thank you!! I am new to crochet and unsure about reading patterns. I couldn't figure out the pattern, found this video, and voile'! I am now making the blanket as a gift for a dear friend. Thanks again!
Lynette - I'm sure you are on your way with crocheting now since this post was 2 yrs ago. I've learned how to do so many things, shawls, scarves, beanies, baby blankets, of course - all with videos! Love it, right?
Can you do a full tutorial on this baby blanket please I have tried to get this and can’t get it right I have learning difficulties and don’t understand this video if it’s not in full please can you make the video longer or can you suggest a more simpler one please thank you love your videos I have just made the baby hats and made a load for the baby wing at my local hospital
Made a beautiful baby blanket with tie dye-ish mossy hills color and trimmed with white. Even though I'm a beginner my daughter-in-law wants me to help her make a blanket too. Sweet.
I always come here first looking for tutorials. I have to search with crochet crowd when I'm looking for stuff, or search your main page. I have made this blanket twice. This yarn is very forgiving if you mess up. It's super soft and durable too. You do the best tutorials! Thanks!
I have some of this exact brand yarn and have been trying to figure out the best way to use it. thank you for this video! I've been crocheting for many years but always do the same basic stitch so I love watching these tutorials to learn more.
I can't tell you how many times I have started and then ripped out all of the stitches... I am having a hard time counting the stitches so it gets all wonky!
Do we only need 1 BIG ball of yarn that is 10.5 ounce, or 2 BIG balls? OR do we need 2 SMALL balls that are 3.5 ounces each?? Please help, I don't know which to purchase.
please please do a series of baby items using the bernat blanket yarn. beanie, scratch mitts, pants, vest, booties, dress, sweater, diaper cover, hooded bath towel and jumper. thank you in advance.
I love this pattern. Very fast. However I didn't like the gaps on the first row. On my second blanket I did a single crochet row on the first row and then the same as tutorial. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for your comment on using single crochet on 1st row. Did a great job on getting rid of those unsightly gaps. 1st blanket I made I did use 74 chains as instructed by tutorial . Didn't see the pattern said 50 chains. The first blanket came out so well, I've had requests for 2 more. Used size L 8mm hook.
@Maira Lib -- As a beginner myself, I find that I need to loosen my tension (how tightly I'm holding the yarn) so that I'm doing it right. Some patterns actually say on them, "check your gauge." Sometimes you need to change the size of the hook to achieve the desired results. I'm finding that checking my gauge is a good place to start before working on my project. Hope this helps.
I like your products. I only have one problem. I’m left-handed. Can you please flip your pictures around so they appear left-handed as well? That would be so handy for us lefties!❤️
I'm a bit confused the pattern states ch 60 but in the video says 74. Can you clarify please? I know you said multiple of 2s. I'm confused. Then the 1st row states 59 stitch but the 3rd row goes back up to 60 is that how the pattern goes or does all the rows have 59 stitches?
Thank you so much for this video! I literally started this blanket at least 5-6-7 times using first a printed pattern and then another video. Every time I'd get lost in the first 2-3 stitches and the last 2 stitches of the second row and ended up with either a trapazoid or brick looking ends. Your video finally showed me what I was doing wrong (NO ch at the end of the 2nd row, and NO ch until AFTER the second stitch at the beginning of the 2nd row). It's finally looking like a real rectangle with straight edges! ty ty ty ty :D
Love the pattern. Thank you about the 2 different kinds of bernat chunky yarns. It is easy to follow what you are doing, your verbal instructions are wonderful. I listen to you on the TV and crochet at the same time. It works great.
Thank you for this vid. I am a knitter really who dabbles in crochet vids on RU-vid. I am amazed how such a simple pattern can look so lovely and intricated. Am awaiting my second grandson in January and am making this for him.
When I bought the yarn, it said to use an 8mm crochet hook, but then when I opened the pattern it said to use a 10mm crochet hook. I only have an 8, do you think it will still work? Please help, I'd really like to get started. My first attempt at a full sized baby blanket. Due in August! Wish me luck ; )
amber fester yes it will definitely work! Try making your stitches a little looser though. The suggested hooks are really just that, suggestions. I’m a beginner as well but I found I make my stitches a bit loose so the one size down hook works well for me. Alternatively if you find you make your stitches really tight, then going up a size might not be a bad idea. Congrats on your baby! I’m sure the blanket you make will be cherished for a long time :)
Hi Mickey What will the measurements on this blanket? I chained 100 instead of 74 and want to have an idea of the size. Don't want it too big or small. Can you help me? Just for a basic baby blanket please
As a beginner trying to watch and go a long ...you go way to fast. I've tried pausing the video but your movements are too fast and it blurs when pausing.
@@TheCrochetCrowd After rewinding and pausing lots...I finally got it! Thank you so much! Just finishing my first crochet project EVER! THANKS TO YOU! 🥰
Slow the video down....click on the actual video, top right hand corner of the video has 3 vertical dots. Press that and scroll down to playback speed. Set it to what is comfortable for you.
This is way too confusing for a beginner. I have crochets before but this doesnt show reallyw ell how to hold the yarn and also doesnt show how to turn it around and get the back of the chain. Gonna look for s different video
Esther Schlissel 0 seconds ago i am wondering if you would have an easy and simple RU-vid pattern for a 15 year old skinny boy. i have been searching and haven't had any luck.
I have to think on that. I don't understand your comment though. Is his skinny nature part of something that needs to be incorporated into the blanket? Or the age is more important?
I love this pattern and video is easy to follow but can you please help me understand why the edges of my blanket are not flat? I'm on row 7 and the ends are starting to dent in if you know what I mean. Is it because I used 8 mm hook instead of 10 🤔
It was awesome and I bought bernat baby blanket yarn but I really facing a problm to strt my blanket coz am confused tht how my chains i need to do for the base line to make a blanket.plzzzzz lemme knw da count of chains for the base line (at least approx num of chains)so tht i can complete doing crocheting before my baby arrives in this world...ThanQ
hello.. I started a baby blanket and I am a complete novice LOL.. my blanket started on a 150 count chain....and it's a complete sc blanket since I self taught myself through videos I am into my 4th row of single crochet and I think I missed a stitch on row 2 (since I have not been counting) I have a short attention span LOL... do I need to pull out the 4 rows and chain again and start over? thank you!!
I'm not fond of the baby blanket yarn. Could use worsted weight #4 yarn and adjust the 'scale' (essentially using the stitch only) to make a blanket? I'm new to crochet...
Yes. You have to use double yarn a P hook. I made one before seeing this video that I was the same basic pattern. The pattern was from a pattern book of baby blankets
I can't get it right it curves & shrinks what am I doing wrong lost practice & I want to crochet a baby blanket for my new baby granddaughter who is due this December 😔
Because the same stitch is used in several patterns. So I have used a video to demonstrate the stitchwork. You will get the same results but the video size will be a bit bigger.
This is such a pretty pattern and a fun one to stitch. I am really enjoying making this one for my grand-baby that we are expecting in Oct. thanks for sharing. ♥️
