Crochet Braids is one of the most classic protective hairstyle for women with natural hair! This braid hairstyle also works perfectly for transitioning hair and relaxed hair. What hair is best for Crochet Braids? Using any hair from the FreeTress Braiding Hair line are great options to use but for a more kinky look, I suggest kanekalon or Marley braiding hair.
Do I need to have natural hair to do Crochet Braids? No, you can do this hairstyle with relaxed, transitioning or natural hair!
Will Crochet Braids work for short hair? Yes, as long as your hair is long enough to be cornrow braiding then you can achieve this crochet hairstyle.
How much hair do I need for Crochet Braids? You need about 2 to 4 packages of braiding or crochet hair. I used 2 1/2 packs of kinky curly hair that I ordered off Amazon.com. Black women are so creative with their hair! I'm Asian and some may say I'm lucky not to "have to" do anything to care for my hair, but I can't manipulate it into anything else either. It doesn't bleach, color, curl, or braid, at least not without extreme difficulty and never stays. It can't even be controlled with gel. It is boring as H-E-L-L. Love your crochet look!

5/23 White woman here! I had someone deliver groceries to me, who had a baby. A tenants had passed by, who saw I had a large 5gal water bottle, & he helped us. I told the delivery lady, I wanted to make her baby a hat, & that I croched... Well, the gentleman who stopped to helped, said HEY... I heard you say "crochet," I got a young daughter who wants her hair done. So the lady explained that it wasn't that kink of crochet. He was a single dad with 2 kids. I told him, if I can learn it, I will try it! He was such a kind man to help me. I always try to help people. This video was so COOL! It looks so simple, and I can actually use my crochet hooks! I just need to learn how to do the braids. I LOVE to learn how to do different things, and I LOVE to make kids happy! I know that all people have different types of needs for their hair, scalps, skin and more. Depending on if you have disorders and such, but are there any special products you need for the braiding? How long can you keep your braids in for also? What about cleaning the hair, your own hair under it, also? I want to be able to educate the young lady, if I am able to help her. We've attempted several styles of box braids and my daughter's hair hair beats them. It's managed to separate despite very tight braiding she just has extremely strong 4C hair. So on Monday she will be getting her first crochet in. I watched this video to kind of get an idea of how it works and is everyone else has stated very professional very clearly stated and if I didn't have arthritis in my hands I would attempt it myself because it seems fairly simple if you know how to crochet. But fantastic job it looks absolutely amazing and now I know what to expect on Monday.
