This step by step tutorial will show you how to crochet EASY cuffed / roll top baby booties. These booties / shoes are perfect for beginners.
For size 0 - 3 months use a 4mm crochet hook
For size 3 - 6 months use a 4.5mm crochet hook
For size 6 - 12 months use a 5mm crochet hook
For my baby booties I used a 4mm crochet hook and Drops Merino Extra Fine yarn (DK weight).

I’ve been crocheting since the 60’s, mostly from written instructions. RU-vid is a blessing for new projects, especially if the instructions are clearly given and the presenter’s work is always well lit and visible. Your presentations are the best! I wish RU-vid had been around when I first took up the crochet hook.

This is a wonderful video. Learning how to crochet at 36 isn't easy but your instructions are so clear, and the video quality is so good, this makes it much easier for a beginner. And thank you for repeating every little thing, even the "chain 1, which is not counted as a stitch" at every new round. It's missing little things like this that can confuse a total beginner. Much love and light

I am not english, I just speak and use english language. Beside the crochet practice it was also nice to listen to your accent, and I felt I am practicing the language as well. You are explaining in an easy way to understand and so making beginners happy..:) My little shoes have become cool and funky, since I was changing the colors (left shoe with grey sole and top, yellow in between, right shoe with yellow sole and top, grey in between.) Thanks a lot!

You are one of the best teachers on youtube when it comes to crochet, thank you for sharing with those of us who are new to this and get confused when the full instuction are not given which is very frustrating. Yes there is a pause button but it's annoying having to stop the video and go back to try and find where the hell you were....LOL I love watching you crochet and love working along with you as it makes me feel like I am right there with you .....once again thank you very much.

Right?? So I don't have to restart all over again to make the second bootie. I would pause the video after the she explains a couple of steps. Did one and repeated the same steps to make the second one. And I did the same sequence every step of the way til the very end. Using the same yarn and hook. Hahaha hahaha..... And i still managed to get one that was slightly bigger then the other or wonky looking! For as much as I stretched them out and re-did the rim on the wonky looking one! Hahahaha..... I had to set them aside. To not be tempted to re-do the funky looking one. And later that evening my cousin came over for a visit. And she asked what I'd been up today. To which I pulled out the Lil' pair of booties. And she went crazy over them. And didn't even notice a thing! Gosh, how I hate that I can be so hard on myself! I made peace with them not be perfect. Since I made them with love! I shall sew baby's name on one of the sole's. To give them to my cousin's baby girl Keila, who's days away from entering this world! Thanks Wooly Wonders for telling us how many stitches would be in every beginning and end of a row. Til' I found yours. I had already unraveled my booties. Cause the previous lady I was following wouldn't guide us along the way. To which each bootie came out different. But you spared me the stress of giving up! Thanks💗

I love your easy to understand video! Like others said, your note about how many stitches to have at end of each round is helpful to make us successful. I’m sure you get comments about your soothing voice and accent. It reminds me of the aunt in “Derry Girls”. I doubt that you’re a goofball like her, but thought it would give you a chuckle. The actress is Kathy Kiera Clarke.

I adore these booties! Thank you soo much!! A quick tip for complete beginners like myself :) this may be obvious but the tension you use on the first one is probably not going to be the same as the second one so.. When you finish the sole of the second one, measure it against the sole of the first one and adjust your needle size accordingly. You may have to do the same for the body of the bootie. I finished my first one using a size 4mm needle all the way. For the second I had to use 5mm for the sole and 4.5mm for the body for them to match!

I am a beginner and I made these booties with little trouble. I initially tried it with a multi-colored yarn and I confess, that was a nightmare! So back to the store I went for some nice, smooth, single colored yarn and then I had great success. When I finished, I decided to sew in a strand of the multi-colored yarn around the ankle and left tying a little bow in the front. This enables me to pull snug for some added security. Great tutorial!!

I don’t know if you got an answer but you can just lay the tail along the top of the stitches you are working and over the hook when you pull up a loop. As you complete the stitch the tail becomes bound within the stitch. After a few stitches in this way you can snip it off.

Very helpful video. I was able to follow throughout and finish my project. I messed up on one row and It took long time for me to finish it because I am a beginner. The choice of color and the video clarity was great. I would highly recommend this tutorial for beginners. ✌🏻👍🏻

Jim ba same. I keep coming back to start over. Even on the first row I mess up somewhere. I don't get it i rewind and replay. I've written down the steps. I'm very new but have done a few blankets, potholders, and practice stitches making nothing or just odds and ends. Maybe the dogs are interrupting me or the cats accidentally pulled a loop out while I stopped momentarily to let the dogs in or out. I don't think they want me to do this project. Sigh. Lol ill press on.

For people getting lost - DONT FORGET THE CHAIN DOESNT COUNT, SO YOU STILL NEED TO START INT THE STITCH RIGHT UNDER THAT CHAIN. DONT DO a Hdc2Tog twice, even though that's what she says. She means once. R1 = 24 stitches, R2 = 36st, R3 - 48st, R4 - 48st, R5 - 40st, R6 - 36st, R7 - 32st, R8 - 28st, R9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 - 26st

Thank you so much for taking time to teach. Watching you crochet and crocheting along is something I really enjoy doing. Thanks again.

Hello! I love your video tutorials. So very clear and easy to follow. After I had made a couple of pairs following your videos, I bought the pattern through Etsy, as I thought it appropriate to pay you something for all your work. I see that the written pattern differs from the videos posted here both in terms of hook size, and also numbers of stitches. Which of the two do you recommend? I'm happy to do either, now that I have a little experience under my hook, but I'd like to use the method you consider to produce the best result. Thank you again and again! :)

Hi Lynda, Thank you so much for your order! I have two tutorials for cuffed baby booties however only one is available as a written pattern. If you have a look at the top of the pattern you purchased, there is a link to the tutorial that matches exactly. I would follow along with the written pattern and matching tutorial (linked at top of pattern) as that is my most recent pattern. I hope this helps, if you have any more questions it may be best to speak through Etsy conversations as your comment may get lost here! x
