In this tutorial I show you how to crochet a slouchy beanie. Please note that one size does not fit all and you may have to make adjustments. THE MORE ROWS YOU ADD, THE SLOUCHIER THE HAT WILL BE!

To those who complain that it's not the slouch hat as shown, just add more rows until you get the length you want. It's not that serious, just takes a little self initiative and some common sense.

THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE BEST COMMENT!!! I can't tell you how many times I not only have to reiterate that one size does not fit all... to add more rows of increase for width and more rounds til you reach your desired slouch!! 😘

I made 3 of these hats today. The pattern is great. My only issue, and wouldnt thumbs down over it, is why does my hat and her finished hat (which are identical) look nothing like the picture of the hat on the mannequin that caught my attention originally. That's all. Other than that. Excellent pattern and hat.

Hi Lisa, I'm from the UK, and finding tutorials based on UK wool. thank you for sharing this tutorial, I took a few tries to get it right to suit the size I was looking for. I made a few changes ie hook size and wool, we use Double Knit wool and I used Patons Fab DK wool and a UK 6mm hook. I just worked the magic circle until I had 78 stitches then worked the number of rounds for length I changed to a number 5 hook working another couple of rounds decreasing to get the size I was looking at this point I changed hook size again to a number 4.5mm and worked 8 rounds of SC in every DC st. to create a band and it came out beautifully and most of all my daughter loves it.

hello, i am a beginner and i made this beanie yesterday, it was great and my daughter loves it, but i am confused about one thing. should the last slip stitch on each row go into the 2 chains from the beginning of the row, or into the first double crochet? i was doing it into the chains and my joining goes diagonally across the hat. when i look at it, i feel like i should have slipped into the gap after the first double crochet to make it straight. would that be right? or ... is the join supposed to be a diagonal? thx!

Am not a beginner hence i figured it out. So Plse measure as u keep adding rows as to what size the total circumference you want it to be for the head. Ths videos is for small to medium head. For adults, it needs bigger size. I understand as a beginner your totally relying on instructions and half way thru u realise that the pattern isnt perfectly right BUT this lady already mentioned that she is trying her best to instruct correctly as she too is learning. Hopefully people would read these comments before u follow someone on youtube because not all videos here are perfectly right.

It took me 30min to make that begining circle and like 2-3h to make the hat, and it's not even done! 😅 This is a great tutorial, I just lack skill, this is like the third thing I made! Plus, I'm using much thicccer yarn (it one of thoes that change color)...

Keep it up, u will definitely get to the point where you can push these out in 30 mins or less. once you get the magic circle down, everything else is a piece of cake (I do crochet pretty fast, however a lot of beginners have done it in less than an hour). 🥰

To make the DC stitching “tighter” with keeping the same yarn instructions, could I decrease the hook size to a 9 (I don’t have a 9.5) and just add 2 rows of increases? I ask because my boyfriend loved my beanie and wants one to match his scarf I made but doesn’t want it so “see through” as he calls it. 😂

Hello. I've made several of these for my grandkids and they fit them great! However I can get it on my big 'ol head. How do I make it about 3 inches bigger in circumference? Do I add more than 8 stitches in the magic ring? If so how will that affect my increase rows? Example if I add 12 DC into magic ring what would rows 2-4 pattern be? Thank you so much for your videos! I have learned so much.
@LifeWithLisa3434
@LifeWithLisa3434 5 лет назад
Thank you so much for watching and I'm so glad my tutorial helped! What you would need to do to make the hat larger is add an extra row or two of increases, meaning...your FIFTH round would be another row of increases, 2 double crochets in the 1st stitch followed by THREE individual double crochets in the next 3 stitches and repeat, this will make the hat larger. I hope this makes sense! 😊

I followed the pattern, same hook, and double yarn, and I have a beanie, not a slouchy. You need to put the hat on someone or a mannequin so one can see how what you did really fits. I’ve redone, and it’s either too big or too small. Disappointed!

You're obviously doing something wrong. The hat in that video is the same hat on the display head in the thumbnail. As I have already stated to the few people who could not achieve success with the tutorial, NO HAT IS ONE SIZE FITS ALL, you may have to adjust the pattern. The hat I did fits an adult woman, however it would not fit my head because it's larger than hers. Please do not insult me with accusations because you are having issues getting it. Just ask me and I can attempt to help you. It's a simple fix...just add more rows of increases to make it larger.

My Grams started crocheting when she was 3. She lived to be 100.5. Towards the end she would doze off and be snoring while she was still crocheting. Occasionally she would drop a stitch as she nodded off. You'd hear a little exclamation when she'd have to tear out to the spot. She wasn't sleepin though, she was, " just resting her eyes." Lol I sure miss her. Your hands are like chicken soup to me.

I love the dual strands on the hat. I started experimenting doing that about a year ago. Instead of using the same color yarn, I like to use two different ones. Using 2 complimentary varigated ones is so much fun. Just watching the way the colors all play together. A few months ago I started using one strand of a #4 along with two strands of a fine #1. I made an infinity scarf for a friend using three strands of the #1 yarn in three different colors. I used a fairly large hook, an L, I think. It made the scarf so soft and fluffy. Its a Christmas gift and I'm so excited to see her reaction.

I’m a relatively new crocheter and this took me 3 hours 😬 definitely working on getting better. I’ve made two! My husband’s was a whole beanie but i used a J hook (way too small, my bad). In my 2nd I dc’d 10 in my magic circle, then increased in kind for a super slouchy hat for my daughter and even added a huge pom pom from the skein remnants.
