Tamara, I made this in a silver grey Hygge for my daughter. I gave it to her last night for Christmas and she absolutely loved it! She said it feels like a warm hug! Thank you for this lovely pattern.
I love this patter iv made 3 already however working on the rectangle I did the first row in half double crochet and ended the last row with half double crochet it gave it a bit more of a sturdy look
Thank you for this tutorial. I just made this for a birthday gift and she loved it. This wool is sooooo soft. I plan to make one for myself. Your video was easy to follow but I still also referened the blog. Thank you again
Thank you so much for sharing this video I can never find anything to make because everything is always super small and you actually help people that is plus size to be able to make a sweater and your tutorial is great and thank you for the extra videos that you put in the link that really helped out a lot because I did not know what the third Loop was will definitely be subscribing to your channel thanks again
I made this cardigan and I am super pleased with it. Although the Misses size ended up a little too big for me, I love the cardigan regardless. Thank you so much for the tutorial
I am almost finished with this cardigan, and I love it! I found some yarn that was not as expensive. Caron has Latte Cakes, that looks and feels like Hygge; it has 530 yards per cake, and with coupon, I was able to get it for $5.99; instead of $9.99 (regular price). It is so soft and cozy! I may have to make another one, in a different colorway! 💗💗💗
No, it doesn't shed; not like that. It does have a little fuzz, here and there; but I love it, it is so soft. I have made 2 baby blankets with this, and no shedding. My 1 year old grandson loves this; now he has to sleep with it, nightly.
This is my favourite pattern, it is called a Nightingale and is one of the 1st things that I knit/crocheted when I was learning as a kid.. I still make them today, as many people ask me for them as gifts!
You can make this shrug without the seem as Oana shows how to crochet hers. You crochet enough rows to measure the 7 inches for the armholes for each side then join one side and continue crocheting the pattern up to the next armhole. Join the second armhole and crochet pattern as usual. Join and continue crocheting to the rows needed. Finish trim pattern for body and armholes and done with no seams. So 👍 nice and easy.
Hi I really love the tutorial and it's a must try for me. I am just wondering, how does one measure or decide the hip area or shoulder size? That part i don't understand.
Hi! Im a beginner but have had so much fun learning with your tutorials. Is it natural to "struggle" with going into the back bump? You do it with so much ease ☺ Also i cant ever seem to make perfect squares, rectangles etc. My project always looks like a trapezoid. Thanks for your time and videos!!! 😍
Thank you Krystal! It's normal to struggle a bit going into the chain - no matter which loops you go under! It's just a fiddly process, and generally no one's favorite part of crocheting. As a beginner, wonky rectangles are also very normal, and a stage we ALL go through. My best tips are to count your stitches often, and use a stitch marker in the first and last stitch or each row to make sure you aren't dropping or adding stitches somewhere. After that, blocking can hide a lot of sins too! That's just getting your work damp, and then shaping it so it has nice straight lines and letting it airdry. :) I hope some of these tips help!
I just bought 8 skeins of this so very heavenly yarn!!! I wear a 4X shirt. I wonder if the plus size in this tutorial directions will fit me. I’ve never made a cardigan for myself before.
Very nice, I might have to try making one of these. I have always thought they would make a person look a little heavy. I don’t need any help with that! 🤣
I am trying this pattern in the worsted weight Caron simply soft. It really is so soft and it seems to have a very nice drape so far. Has anyone else done this pattern in the simply soft? How did it work out for you if you did?
Thank you! That's why I ask you to refer to the written pattern at the link in the description. :) Here's a direct link: www.mooglyblog.com/hygge-cocoon-cardigan/
Tamara Kelly - Moogly, I’m sorry, I’ve looked it over twice an am obviously missing it. I fall into a size L according to the crochet council sizing. I do not mean to be a pest, I’m simply missing what the size cut offs are..... ❤️
Can I use a different kind of yarn like a red heart worsted weight and will the count of rows be the same if I use a different kind of yarn? Thank you so much for the video and pattern!
Tamara, this is lovely, and looks toasty-warm. When the rectangle is finished, and it’s laid out for stitching, is it on the table face up or down? Am I stitching the seam inside out? All replies greatly appreciated.
Currently working on this and up to sleeve cuff. After doing 2dc together the cuff is not tight like yours. What can I do to fix this? Thank you in advance.
If it's the stitches themselves, you can try a smaller hook. If it's a bit of gap at the seam, you can use the end of the yarn to cinch that up. :) I hope that helps!
This was an awesome video and I can’t wait to get started. My question is if I can’t find that particular yarn do you suggest another that’s just as soft. And how many will I need for miss size.
Hello! Any bulky you love should work, though it might drape differently. Yarn amounts are listed in the written pattern linked at the link in the description! :)
That will depend on your gauge, which depends on the yarn, hook, and how you crochet as an individual! I'd recommend using the long chain method and working to the measurements in the schematic of the written pattern! Love your videos and work. If you want your cocoon longer , con you add more rolls to make it longer. Would it be okay or would it change things.. please and thank you for your help
Hi Ethel! You can absolutely add more rows to make it longer! All you'd need to adjust for that is to make the seams on the sides a little longer - or have wider sleeves. :)
I do love this and I get the drape reasoning BUT because I am just barely tipped into the plus zone I fear it becoming stretched out and looking sloppy. As per front loop only And using the double crochet stitch. It's so long and somewhat unstable. I really hope for your reply. Advice?
Hi Lynda! It's a pretty heavy sweater and I haven't found too much instability yet, but you can absolutely work under both loops if preferred - just work until it's the right length! The schematic is included in the written pattern: www.mooglyblog.com/hygge-cocoon-cardigan
Hi sweetie, thanks for this pattern. I've been crocheting ( very badly, lol) for a long time, but always had problems. Thank goodness for u tube, and people like you. 🤣 l have too many blanket's and just learnt kids cardies. This is my first it project. I'm confused though, does the chain 3 at the end of each row count as a stick? Please help me someone. I've pulled it undone so many times , lm about to give up. Thanks so much, in advance xxxx
Yes, the chain 3 would count as a stitch. If you always end up with one too many or one too few, it won't make a huge difference, as long as it's the same number from row to row. :)
I am very confused about the sleeve. First, you said to add two stitches on each side of the sleeve, then you said you added a sc all around the first round. Which one is it? I read the pattern and did not understand that either.
You are working into the sides of the rows, so 2 sc sts per row, worked evenly around the opening for the sleeve, should give you 36 or 44 sts, depending on size.
I am stuck on the sleeves because you show how to do row 3 and that is it. I know you say it’s the same, but it’s not the same because the previous row does not have the 2 together to crochet behind... so when I got to do row 4 and beyond it isn’t working right for me. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. It’s like I’m adding extra stitches because it’s starting to fan out like a flower and not stay tight and straight. So frustrating after all this work and I’m at the very end!
Hello, I'm sorry for the confusion! Rows 3-14 of the sleeve are worked even - one stitch around each stitch of the previous row. Is your stitch count staying the same?
What are the measurements of the square for the plus size version before seen together. I'd love to make this in a velvet yarn with a different stich like single crochet.
Is the Hygge yarn center pull our outside pull? I can't really find either and after what I did the ball of yarn I had thought I would check!! Love how this yarn feels
@@mooglyblog ok thanks alot. Which should I go for 5 years baby? U have given 6 to 14 size.. I don't know about it... Plz tell d measurements of starting chains that would help me well.
@@sheetaltyagi4130 The measurements for the sizes are given in the schematic, and the written instructions include the starting chain for all sizes. :)
I have been working on this for a week. I just finished the 40 rows from a chain of 97 for a misses and the is so small ( my stitches are not tight and it’s so small. It might fit a child and I am making it for an adult 😔. I don’t want to add stitches to make it wider it won’t be the same…PLEASE HELP! Why me 😢
@@mooglyblog thank you for your response Tamara! I was not. But I have figured it out and need more stitches and rows. WIP 😊 thank you for all you do for all us crochet crazy people 😁❤️
Ugh!!😩Is there a substitute yarn that is very close to the feel, eyelash fuzziness, softness and the color black? I'm finding this yarn has been discontinued! I wanted it in the color ink. But oh well. I have two skeins of it. God knows what I'll make with it.😢
I used an 8 mm for the same reason, and it turned out awesome, and fit well. I made the plus size measurements, and everything worked out fine with the same yarn weight recommended.
Omg everyone when it comes to the measurements for the sleeves does that mean the sleeve opening should be 9 inches or the sewn together part should be 9 inches?
Hi Steffers! Since children come in so many different sizes, I'd take one of her long sleeve shirts and chain from about elbow to elbow, across the back. :)
Hi Diana! 6X is where it becomes a little tighter, so I'd add another 10 Stitches, and add 2-4 more Rows (depending on if you also want it longer). Then, for the sleeves, I would skip Round 2 and just work the ribbing for an extra row or two (try it on to see if you need more length in the sleeve before breaking the yarn). I hope that helps! :)
