I finished mine today and I love it! Only thing I would do differently if I made it again would be to make it a little wider than shoulder width so it looked like I had a small sleeve instead of so boxy. But it was a very simple tutorial to follow and easy to customize if you wanted to. ❤
Ooh, I bet that will be really nice. When you finish it please send me a picture if you are on Instagram @ahselanne_crochet. I would love to see your final product. 💙
OMG swimsuit coverup for summer but in a chunkier wool it would be great over a long sleeved top and jeans in winter. Thanks, I'm making this! From Australia 🐨🐨
LOL. Yes, One minutes it's super hot here and the next we're having a cold chill. So I thought this would be a perfect item to wear at the pool or with some khaki shorts and a tank top. Thanks for the support!
This is gorgeous! I love it ! And I can totally see it being a cute top with a tank top underneath ! You are wonderfully creative and an exceptional instructor ! Thank you so much! I love your crochet creations especially the blanket ones ! I cannot wait to make the patch work blanket with bernat blanket yarn🙂 Thank you so much!
Awww. Thank you so much for your kind words. The patch blanket was fun to make. I'm actually going to add a few more patches to mine just to make it a little larger. :-)
Thank you so much for sharing... I shall be making this, this weekend... I'm getting ready for the summer... It's practically summer here in Florida already... I really don't like going to the beach as much as I did when I was child...But this summer shall & will be much, much more different 😇 AGAIN, THANX FOR SHARING 👍🏾
Yes, I agree Florida's weather is getting warm already. I want to make a crochet vest so I hope to start that project this weekend. Hopefully I can post that soon. Good Luck with your cover-up.
Me too...Ha. Plus, I thought it could transition nicely to beginning fall with a pair of cropped jeans or cooler spring day. I'll try to restyle it towards the end of the summer. ;-)
Love it 🤩🤩I was looking for something quick and easy to make for my sister's birthday. She is leaving on vacation in 3 days. You really saved me thanks soo much.
I love this cover- up I’m making it in a smaller size to fit my 2 granddaughters I’m using over their bathing suits for the beach this summer 2024 I’m using Yarn Bee sugar wheel, cotton sparkle In the color twirls at twilight from hobby lobby .. it’s so so soft and beautiful color I’m hoping the two cover - ups come out as beautiful as yours :) thank you for the pattern, and I subscribed to your channel😊 have a wonderful day !
Hi this is gorgeous. Top and could be used as a top with tee shirt underneath thanks so much for sharing love really like it happy. Crocheting from. Ireland x
This is beautiful but I am uncertain of how many total rows to make? Also I am making this for an average 10 year old girl so If you can give me an idea on the total stitches for the foundation chain that would be awesome. So looking forward to starting this for my oldest Grand Daughter . Thank you!
Can't wait to start this project!! I am using a finer yarn it's Alize Diva Stretch. It's called comfort stretch. I hope it works and I hope I have enough yarn. Any suggestions would be great!
Hi! I've never worked with Alize diva stretch yarn. It's a thinner yarn so you may have to adjust the pattern some, due to the hook size and the weight of the yarn. Just complete your foundation chain to the width that you need and go forth and conquer 🙂
I like the video however for beginners you should demonstrate the last stitch & turning stitch of the rows. Also show close up on sewing project together. Thanks
Hello, I have a loose way of determining the sizing. Unfortunately, I didn't have a pattern tester but if you can measure from shoulder to shoulder to determine the width. Then you would create your foundation chain a few inches longer than your measurements. You can also measure across your bust, at the fullest part. Do not pull the tape too tightly, if you want a loose fit then add approx. 4-6" to this number. The create a foundation chain that measure to the length of your measurement.
Hi, Sorry I'm just now seeing your comment. I'm not sure I understand your question? Do you mean how many rows to complete the garment? You can create however many rows you want; until you reach the desired length. If that's what you're asking. 🙂
Sorry for the delay. You make have found this information on.my website or you may not need this any longer but the cover-up pictured is approx.. 21” in Width (L/XL) and 31” Long.
Hello! Between 1020-1190 yards ,depending on the size. I think I used 6 skeins of Vanna's Choice Yarn -170 yards per skein. Sorry for the delay in responding. Hope this helps. 🙂
Oh, sorry. I think you referring to the neck/shoulder area. The easiest way I can explain this, is to leave an opening wide enough for your head and neck to fit through, sewing along the right and left side to create shoulder area. I made this into a math project to allow the cover-up to be customizable. For example, if you measuring along the top edge and you get 32 inches, divide this number by 4 , you'll get 8 inches. I sewed along the left shoulder until I reach 8'" and then repeated the same thing on the right shoulder, 8". Leaving a 16" neck opening (for a slouchy fit). I have written instruction on my website that may be easier to follow. ahselanne.com/2019/06/09/crochet-swimsuit-cover-up/
Sorry about that. I typed it up and for whatever reason I never posted it. Here is a direct link to my website. ahselanne.com/category/crochet-creations/wearables/. Let me know if you have any questions.
