I am a beginner and have done only yarn over. I saw in some crochet videos doing yarn under in certain stitches with no clarification and I was confused. After watching your video, at least I know what it is. Thank you for your clarification. 😊

Beginner here! I had no idea i was mixing yarn over and yarn under when making my blanket. No wonder the stitches are inconsistent

I'm also a beginner & think I have inadvertently been doing the same thing. It's not really easy to tell what the outcome of putting the yarn over or under is gonna be,when making a loop(like actually picturing how it might even affect the way a stitch is formed,while already being confused & hoping ur doing other stuff right).Much less think about that when you've just begun learning how to hold both the yarn,& the hook,while keeping consistent tension,to make even looking loops throughout an entire piece,plus learning & trying 2 remember dozens techniques & which is appropriate 4 what,to use with the 100s or 1000s of stitches to choose from,lol!!!

I see people on RU-vid tutorials do a mix of both yarn under and yarn over for the same stitch.

What does it change ? I mean when you do only one I see the difference but when I do a mix of both it’s tight just like the yarn under

Holy moly,I haven't even been paying attn.to which way i was doing it,I've just tried to continue w/1 or the other 4 the entirety or a project 2 get consistent looking tension/stitches. In my defense tho,I'm pretty sure no1 has ever pointed out there even being 2 possible outcomes & to make sure u only yarn over or whatever anyway..Plus I've got pretty bad ADD,so when I'm finding more distractions than usual,or not getting something right away,I'll watch a video again 2 or 3 times,until I feel like I'm not hearing anything I may have missed the 1st time around,lol..
