Why did you not rub everything with Garlic first? I'm learning to cure my Mexican pottery and I want to do it right and safe.

Oh my gosh I just subscribed best line ever: If you don't wash the terracotta you will taste it and sometimes it's good.

Thank you for sharing your video. I have a question I bought some pretty terra-cotta cups like the ones you have from a store called fiesta Mart. They are decorated really pretty, but they do say not to use that it’s only for decoration is that just something they put on all the pieces? The inside is glazed but the outside is not just decorated really pretty help. I wanted to give some out as Christmas gifts. But I didn’t notice till after I bought them.

If it says just for decoration is probably because its those pieces that still have been coated with a glace with lead ..you can find a lead test kit in amazon and test them.. but thats what am thinking it says just for decor.

Where and how do you store all of your clay ware? I just bought a bunch and have no idea where to put it in my kitchen along with all of my other cazuelas /ollas 🙃

U just got a new cantaro and filled it up. Couple minutes later came back with counter filled with water and noticed water coming out the cantaro like it has pours. I don’t know if this will fix that or what else can fix it? I’m trying this out tonight tho

Is it glazed at all? Try this way and see it it helps.. cantaros without any sort of design out side do "sweat" a little

Thank you, I have a bean pot and cured it but wasn't sure about the totally unglazed barrito cups. I don't drink but I liked the cups.

Awesome... the garritos are good for coffee, water anything or are your saying the tiny tequila ones.

@@NenasBubble you know I think the sticker on it called it a jarrito. IDK but it is tapered at the bottom and some were sold as a kit with spices or something for beer.

Is it need it to cure a glazed pot? Some videos said no need ! I’m so confused ; I got a glazed pot and the box says is suitable for oven, microwave, stove

Hello! I just bought a clay mug. The outside is not glazed, by the rim and inside are. Do I still need to cure them? Also, how often do you cure your mugs?

if i plan on painting it, should i paint them first and then cure or cure first and then paint?

The cureing is more for like the inside so you can cure first then paint them and seal your work 😉

Hi! Just curious, are they painted before they’re sealed and cured? Also, do you cure them before sealing?

I bougth them like that went they have no seal you cure them .. if you bought them already sealed from the inside than no need to cure.. the items that need cure are most often the big pots and the cantaritos for water like the one in this video with the flowers or the small ones for drinking. They are painted and then seal most likely already cured.

Do you have to boil the water ? I have a little vaso & the inside is glazed/shiny & the outside is more clay textured.

No need to boil water.. those kinds of vasos dont need to cure because the inside is glazed so the liquid you put inside does not get absorbed into the clay. You're all good.

You can't if they are licking it broke.. buuut maybe if you glaze it might work

Oh no those are glazed inside so no need to cure them.

I didnt they were just in the water i let them dry completely after taken out of the water and used after. ... when used them i do wash them with soap and water 😁

I see you left your pot soaking for two nights , how long should I leave the bowls n plates n cups for?

I did left it for two nights because I forgot to take it out but one overnight should be fine for pots, plates and cups or mugs.

Well i dont think it matters this curing is not to be lead free but to prevent the dish from tasting like clay and to prevent the ones to cook with from breaking.

Is it bad that I like the taste of the clay?!?! 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️ Lawwd help me, am I gonna get sick? *I feel a headache and a slight twitch* 😂😂 no one told me to "cure" them 1st. I love drinking water from mine, it taste so good.

Hehe .. i like it too.. cureing them would not take the taste away it just it not absorb your liquid. I dont think it would make you sick like that .. try cureing them now and see the difference
