I find it really hard to make that final curl flick with the flat iron - maybe b/c parts of my hair are too short? What temp do you recommend for getting waves in fine hair without damage?
I would love a video showing additional looks using a flat iron. This video was perfect. I really appreciated the detailed info and hands-on demo. And the tips for Day 2 & 3. Thanks!
My mind is blown! I’ve been wondering why I could never make my flat iron curls look like curling iron curls, and now I understand. I would definitely love to see more flat iron style tutorials!
You actually ran on the treadmill with high heels😂. Yes, please do more tutorials on how to create different looks with a flatiron. Great video, Summer. Always happy to see Brutus making an appearance!
I've always wanted to master curling my hair with a flat iron bc i think it would make traveling with one tool that does it all so much easier! I have long hair so i hope i can try this and make it work. Thank you for the tips!
I am growing my hair out from a stacked bob. Watching your tutorial has inspired me to keep growing the layers out and growing it longer. I love your hair! Thanks for the inspirtation!
Thank you...doing my own hair for my sons wedding in September..down, full and textured..red hair below shoulder length. I will take on all your advice..fingers crossed 🤞🤞🤞🙏🌹
Thank you I just had 4 in of hair cut off so a pretty drastic cut for me and now I'm going to be using my flat iron most of the time and this has really helped me.
I'll have to try this. Usually I prefer the roots and midlengths smooth and the ends curled. I just think a curled end looks healthier than a stick-straight one. Still, some variety would be a good thing.
The best shower cap is one lined with a towel-like material. I had given up on the idea of shower caps until I found it. You might be able to put a facecloth under a traditional shower cap to get a similar effect.
Very informative and well explained. I always had difficulty with a flat iron and will try again with all this info. Summer I ordered a 2 n 1 styler and hope your lesson here will help. It is a curling iron and flat iron in one and has a cooling air flow as you curl. I hope I can manage that one. Thank you
Thank you ❤ I’ve just had my very long hair all cut into a textured short bob, I’m really struggling to style it, after watching your tutorial, I can’t wait to do it, you made it look easy, my major mistake is holding my straighteners in wrong position, I kind of had them upside down, and twisting my wrist , thank you
Yes, please! More tips n' tricks! LOVE your videos👍 I often watch your videos in the back room before clients, so I have your techniques fresh in my brain!
Love this video, thank you for all the tips always struggle with the front curtain pieces. Do you have a video specifically for that? Using a flat iron
I learned so much from this video. Thank you so much!!❤ I would love to see more flat iron looks especially for longer hair. I have really long hair so whenever I use a flat iron I feel like my curls are just very loose waves that fall flat really quick. It doesn't even look like I took my time and curled my whole head with a flat iron. 🙄
I’m 59 with gray and blonde hair and the texture of gray is very difficult to work with. I love this video bc it’s helped me get a better curl with the flat iron, but sometimes when I finish it looks like a birds nest on the ends of my hair. I need to keep practicing but wanted to thank you bc these videos help a lot. I’m trying not to grip the iron too tight but it’s hard to let loose😋💝
Question please - do the same tips apply for longer hair? Tutorial videos for creating different looks are my absolute favorite! I'm learning pretty late in life, so I need all the help I can get
So happy to hear this! If you want more flat iron looks, be sure to check out my latest video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X5dE6AXTsiA.html I go over two additional looks!
Thank you for this video. Would like to see more looks and tips. I kind of gave up on using a flat iron. I always get strands caught and end up pulling out or breaking hair. Also, I don’t like the straight ends from using a flat iron. Is there any tips to avoid that? Not trying to be critical, just not my preference.
Loved this vid thank you♥️ I have a bob same length as you but it’s dyed blonde so looks much drier, no matter what I use! I would love to see more flat iron styles. I also find it tricky to curl the back 😏
Very helpful info! Thank you so much. Wish I could get away from washing my hair daily. My hair is thin and gets greasy/smelly in 24 hours! Plus when working out or outside in the South, my scalp gets sweaty.
Me too. I wish I didn't have to wash my hair all the time. My Mother in law looks at me like I am nuts when I tell her my hair needs to be washed daily. SHE has very dry coarse hair.... very dry....so she washes it weekly. She does not live with our type of hair. I am growing it out as long as it will grow out to.....and eventually be able to pull it back in a bun or top not.....possibly getting away from the daily wash. Good luck to you too.
This was amazing, and I'm so excited to try this out with my flat iron! I've always felt intimidated by curling with a flat iron but you explained things so incredibly well and really showed how to do it. Thank you!
So happy you enjoyed! This is my most current video where I show two other looks as well that can be done with the flat iron! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X5dE6AXTsiA.html
What products do you recommend for someone that has naturally fine, frizzy, curly 2A curls when trying to trying to style messy beach waves like yours in this tutorial? I live in Florida where the humidity is challenging. I rarely do loose curls, messy waves with a curling or flat iron because I can’t find products that will keep my hair shape or tame the frizz. The minute I go outside it almost immediately frizzes and the hairstyle falls. Thank you!!
Love this video thank u @SummerBeauty This wasn’t something learned when I was young or even younger lol Question- the direction of the flat iron has no bearing on your curls @ all?!
Hi Summer, first of all, let me say how much I love your videos! If you could give me an advice, as the Volume Queen that you are, I would greatly appreciate it. I saw you recommend the FROMM ProVolume self grip Ceramic ionic thermal hair rollers and I want to try them but I have no idea what size to buy and how many. I have waist-length thin and fine hair and I love super big ridiculous volume. Considering this, can you please let me know what size of rollers should I buy and how many to cover my entire hair? Should I buy different sizes? If so, which ones and how many of each? Thank you so so much!!
You're too kind! I would get a mix of their 2.5in and 3in sizes. On your sections up top or around your face you could opt for a 2in size depending on how short your layers are. The smaller the velcro roller the more of a "curl" you're going to get. I actually use the 2.5in size a lot in my own hair at this length but on my top layer I will use a smaller size to bend my layers a bit more. You'll need anywhere from 8-12 rollers I'd say and with your length being so long you will probably need to pin some of them into place. Let your hair fully cool before taking out, and take out gentle, don't rush it. Let me know if you have anymore questions!
You should not be spraying so much that it makes your hair feel wet or damp. I love the Moroccan Oil Perfect Defense for this reason. It's an aerosol spray so it comes out very light! All products used are linked in description/pinned comment and RU-vid shopping 🙂
I'm super sensitive to scents. My hair is cut like yours and i love the flat iron look. Is there a texture spray and a heat protector that you can recommend that is unscented?
So informative. I always learn a tip or trick from your videos. When using heat protectant should you wait until it dries or can you use flat iron immediately after spraying it in. Thanks!!
This was so helpful, thank you! Do you have any suggestions for dealing with weather? I walk at my lunchtime at work and I live in Oregon. During the rainy season, my curls turn to frizz. I’m thinking of wearing a beanie but if you have any other thoughts, I’d love to hear 😊
Thank you for this VERY thorough video! My biggest problem is trying to curl the back of my head. It is an epic failure every time. I have extremely baby fine, thin hair. I don't get why it's so hard for me. 😅
A waver is going to create a look more similar to one I do in my most recent video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X5dE6AXTsiA.html. It's Look 3. The way I use the iron in this video is closer to a traditional curl than a waved look I feel.
Hi Summer, great video. I have fine and THIN hair. Are the Moroccan oil products too heavy please. Also I’m in Florida and my hair immediately falls flat, any suggestions please. I have a just above shoulder bob but finding it difficult to find a stylist. I would love a cut like yours.
You're using the volume ones? You may like Redkens Volume Injection for shampoo, I'm still gathering my thoughts on it. Amikas humidity spray The Shield is a life savor for the humidity in Florida.
Could you PLEASE do a video on next day hair. The ones are great for freshly washed hair but I only wash my hair once or twice a week. How to freshen up without damaging with heat.
Been trying to figure out flatiron curls. My hair is a bit longer. Would love to see some of the videos with a short demo on longer hair. Do I keep releasing some and twisting?
I almost was going to do some scenes with my clip in extensions in but I ran out of time! You still do similar motions. You would have to rotate it a bit more while moving it down your hair some before you start twisting/pulling out because of the extra length.
I have fine hair strands, medium density, but very frizzy, wavy and dry hair. I struggle with what to use. Volume products don’t smooth. And others are too heavy. Help!
I would mix The IGK Beach Club(amzn.to/3SEcVc3) it's going to give volume and hold while not being as drying as other volume products can be. I also love Pravana's Polish & Reunite(amzn.to/3LMOGES). This is going to be great for hydration and frizz but it's not heavy! You don't need more than just barely above a pea size. It's best to apply them one at a time, brush to spread through your hair and then dry. You can also use a very small amount of the Pravana product on dry hair to restore some moisture inbetween washes.
Yes, I had it cut a bit asymmetrical. The side I always tuck I like a bit short. Working my way back to even on both sides as I want the option for a middle part now!
I’d be happy with the “bad” curl at the start. I have thick coarse hair and I just look a frizzy mess when I curl my hair and it doesn’t hold a curl as it’s so heavy 😂
The background music was a bit distracting and made it hard to pay attention to what you were saying. Is there any way to just leave it out? I have fine hair and have a flat iron with titanium plates. Some say that it's hotter so should I go below 350 degrees in that case?
Thank you for letting me know. It's sometimes quite the challenge to get it just right, especially across all devices. Titanium is more intense for sure, so I would lower it!
