Princess Anne's last curtsy to her mother the Queen truly got to me. That and seeing the Princess in full dress uniform sitting tall on horseback riding with the men.😪

@@dascherofficial No MM didn't get it! Note her over exaggerated deep curtesy at the late Queen's funeral, and then her pathetic medieval circus of a courtesy on the Netflix reality show. For an actress she certainly doesn't learn quickly. Perhaps that's why she never really made it in Hollywood.

Diana did a similar curtsey for the queen. She was doing what she was told to do, as she explained. But guess what, nobody gives a shit about her curtsey outside of the UK. We've been mocking your monarchy for going on 300 years here. Maybe it's just the fact that people are actually expected to curtsey for a person because of some weird ass genetic lottery you people celebrate for some bizarre reason and you're just failing to recognise your internalised revoltion for what it is. 😂

Most people marrying into main house royalty are not nobility, and any connection is distant. A few other, especially older siblings, of either heirs or active monarchs have married nobility, but they are often not first in line for their own titles or are minor nobility. In short - Expecting a woman raised in California to magically know British customs, when even Brits don’t know how to do 99% of what “proper protocol” is; is frankly moronic and disingenuous. Harry has no sisters. Anything he knows is limited and specific to what he himself needed to know. She likely did not go “oh I know how to actually do this, I am just choosing to do the super extreme version because I want attention”. Have you ever curtsied? I have. I did Ballet for years. That s*** is hard on the knees even when you have the muscle for it. Honestly props to her for even standing up afterwords. Anyways, my point is that expecting non-nobility to jump into something automatically, even 5 years in, without a steep a** learning curve shows a serious lack of critical thinking skills. This isn’t just you, but 99% of all the haters. I’m not even a fan of H+M. I’m a writer who has been creating a fantasy world for a decade and have been researching nobility (ancient to modern + not just western) for world building. The reality is, jumping into that world is HARD, and it’s even harder when folks like you expect magic when they are just humans.

Don't forget that the yacht girl was offered help & guidance with Sophie when she first joined the RF. From what I have read, it's a curtsy when first greeting the monarch or consort (or a more senor royal), and then one before taking leave.

Americans are not subjects of any king or queen, so no we do not curtsy. Remember, they are not king or queen of the entire world, just the UK.

I met Prince Charles when he was in the US in like 1986 or so and did not bow or curtsy. They don't chop off your head if you don't.

It has absolutely nothing to do with being subservient, but rather showing respect - bows, curtsy, hand shake, head nod, & using proper titles/names all are forms of good manners. Have you never met someone & shook their hand or addressed your elders as sir & ma'am?
