Thanks! The first video I've seen on deckleing the paper after you've painted it. I've only seen wetting, folding back and forth, and then tearing before you paint. This is so easy! 🥰
You are very right! It's much cleaner from the back. I wanted a more rough edge, so it was a design choice there. I'm glad you brought it up, not everyone wants as rough an edge as I did.
I'm using Arches 140lb cold press watercolor paper. I have a metal straight edge ruler that makes tearing the edges easier. Thicker or wooden rulers make it more difficult. Hope that helps!
do those double sticky squares pose any issues if you were to re-mount in the future or are they pretty forgiving ? like should i make sure i’ll be permanently happy with whatever paper i mount the piece to ?
They seemed forgiving, but I personally haven’t tried to remove or reposition the artwork since mounting it. If you’re mounting a high quality watercolor paper, even if it did stick, I imagine you could just peel off a small layer of the watercolor paper to remove it, and it won’t effect the integrity of the piece.
What if it is a big piece of art would it be cheaper order a big frame or get a custom frame? Its for my mom and I have been trying to frame this piece for years now.
Large custom frames can be anywhere from $100-600 just for the glass and frame! Mats can also be extra! I've gotten some great large frames from Ikea, Michael's and Hobby Lobby (with coupons on the last two places) for under $45. Hope that helps!
