It's easy as, even making your own blanks is simple, takes me an hour per lure and I suck at it.. Painting blanks is easy as compared to anything, if you can push the button on the airbrush and aim then you can paint, and you do not need an expensive airbrush, I use a $20 airbrush and they work fine, but iwata makes some beautiful airbrush's but always use gravity feed as suction airbrush's suck Haha.
Awesome video! I’ve had an air brush kit for about a year now and have tried it a few times on a couple of baits. Loved doing it but never really stuck with it. Glad you’re doing a series on it, so I can learn a thing or two and get back into it.
Can you do the video where you compare a real cheap one to that? All money I use is mine and I’m tight on it right now. I would like to see how a cheap one works
Just watched the video, awesome job. It got me started painting. One problem though, the envirotex is giving me a gummy, tacky finish. Do you know how to fix that?
Sure wish I would have watched this before I started. Excellent job explaining from A to Z. Newbies will appreciate this a lot especially if they watch this first before investing.
Do giveaways for stuff that u made Edit Do some Jerkbaits one of my favorite lures one company makes a clear bait with no paint at all I thinks it’s strike king maybe find it on tackles whare house
lol...When you were giving us suggestions to ask for, i think i was the only one who asked for this after reading the comments on that video. Now, look at all the comments saying how cool and sweet the lure looks, and wanting more info on it. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Have never airbrushed and very interested in creating blades colors for my salmon/steelhead spinner fishing. But I had to watch just because I notice the Husker background. I am an old Husker myself in ‘94-96. Great info and a lot to comprehend. Tight lines!!
Badger airbrushes are all I use and all I will ever use. The owner is a friend of mine and they make a fantastic airbrush at a great price point. They also have the best customer service in the industry period! The Patriot 105 is an excellent airbrush as is the Renegrade Krome.
my son wants too make crankbaits then have a fish off and see who's bait works the best. great video. watched this channel come along way over the last 2 years! thanks for another great vid!
Hey brother. I'm a taxidermist from Alabama. I was very impressed with your video. Thanks for the information and opportunity to your experience and knowledge.
Just wanted to start by saying you are F@&$ing awesome!! The knowledge you have is incredible!! I’ve watched all of your videos and used the tips and tricks you’ve so generously shared with all your MFing fans!! I’m catching more and more fish each time out one the water thanks to you. Thanks bro.. If your ever in or around Austin TX I’d be honored to show you some of my best spots... Can’t wait for the next video!!
Great vidio! Just got my airbrush yesterday. I've been bass fishing for a few years now, and I know what works. Thanks again for the vidio, it will help me out alot.
Winter sucks, can wait to use the very informative video to customize some baits to catch some ditch donkeys this spring. Keep up the great videos! Peace out!!!!👍
I just started making my own crankbaits, swimbaits and jerkbaits. I've been making them out of wood. I use pine a lot for my wood its cheap and easy to cut and carve. I've practicing painting on paper and cardboard so that really helps. Thanks for the video!
A good spot to find equipment to repurpose for lure making is thrift stores and yard sales. I made my lure turner from a catering rotisserie , my jig heating over for power coating is a simple toaster over with adjustable temperature settings ( has to go to at least 350 degrees) and got a microwave for heating plastisol all for about $20. Then a week or so later got a presto pot for $5 at a yard sale to keep the plastisol at temp for dipping softbaits in clear plastisol after painting. Great hobby and Ben really covered the painting well. Nice job! Love the channel!
Ever since I started watching your vids you easily became on of my favorites but this one just put you over the top. Take notes kids, this is how you do it. You’re like every RU-vid fisherman wrapped up in one. Love it!!!! Sky is the limit. Wish nothing but great things for you!
Dude that video was sick you are putting in the hard work is so awesome to me if your going to do something every thing you do make you a better fisherman awesome work dude fisherman for life is what I believe in !!!!!!!
Great video for someone like me who is gathering info on starting the lure painting hobby. Info was quick but very detailed. I'll be watching more from you brother. Appreciate it .
you should do a mini series on painting crank baits and a "back to the basics" to give some new fishermen the inside and outs to getting ready for the water. could start with picking rod/reels then spoiling them up and go all the way through to end of year storage it could bring in some new fans. could do it through 2018. a vid or 2 a month
I love the Video! New to Airbrushing Crankbaits. All of your information is so helpful! I love to Bass Fish, and getting ready for my 2nd tournament in March. This is a GREAT hobby to do when it's to cold out to go fishing! TY
please do more of these videos! I saw the title and it automatically made me want too start painting baits! I already make soft plastic baits, but the hard bait painting seems way more cool!
I bought a airbrush at Christmas and started painting lures right away. You gave good advice at the end. Anyways I’m on the right track and learned a bunch on my own and a few new things from you. Thanks
Awesome video. Keep it up for sure. Airbrushing baits is something that I have wanted to get into for the past 6 or so years. Now that I have a baby due next week and will have a lot of downtime from the water I may just have to pick up an airbrush to fart around with when time permits. Keep up the good work Ben, cheers from Ontario, Canada
