FYI you should never tape over your design using heat transfer tape (aka Kapton tape) it will prevent the heat from transferring through... it is high heat resistance and high heat isolation... so it doesn't allow the heat to transfer through itself.... so you will get a bad heat transfer through it not allowing the ink to transfer... this is why its used to keep electronic components from getting to hot when soldering or using a re-flow iron aka heat gun for soldering... its a very good thermal insulator.. tape around it just don't tape over the design if at all possible

Air forces have a rubber coat that might not stick very well but I Have seen some do it.

No it won't work. It only applies to porous materials
