Great jig.It only takes one micro sized piece of debris to take your eye out. Please always wear safety glasses

Sigh!!!!!! Wish I'd found this video yesterday. If my wife asks me to make ANOTHER circular table, I'll be using THIS method. Tx from Scotland.

I was just explaining how you could cut circles on a table saw to a family member the other day. Now I can just send her this video. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing. I told my wife I was going to make it on the table saw and she didn't believe me that I could do it.

@Rabbit Snare its not any dangerous then any other jig. honestly, the table saw is an all around dangerous machine. use it with caution. you are right though. there are safer ways to make a circle. Like a router or a bandsaw jig. but this video is showing how to do it on a table saw.

This works great on a bandsaw and you can make slanted stackable rings that can be glued up and turn bowls out of on a lathe.

Since not everyone wants a large hole in the back you could easily plug the hole with the same size peg (and glue) and sand it down.

Just a thought, you could add a second row of holes in the jig for odd dimensioned circles as 5,7,9, etc.
@WesHamstra
@WesHamstra 4 года назад
Kevin Coop yep. Could drill the holes on 1/2” in between each one for the odd number sizes
@KevinCoop1
@KevinCoop1 4 года назад
Wes Hamstra I was thinking possibly too close to each other is why you didn't drill them in. Either way, more choices.😊
@ronkrueger3496
@ronkrueger3496 3 года назад
I like this jig since I don't have a bandsaw. I'm going to put the dowel into a smaller piece of wood and use double sided tape to hold my board to avoid drilling a hole in the finish piece.

@@WesHamstra I see.. my bad.. demoted to DEFCON 5. But this thing with the dowel: *someday* you'll scrabble in your garbage bin, because for some reason you gonna need that very end.. and then: *"Oh shit! that little beast, still glued on"* [ok - this is getting too silly, ha.. ha..]

Nice jig, but why not put a router bit in your drill press instead of using your table saw? Much safer. You seem to be very relaxed about safety and that's fine but on video to show beginners maybe put on some goggles at least?
@julieb.9911
@julieb.9911 Месяц назад
Several woodworkers who compare different methods of making circles prefer the table saw method. I’ve watched many vids about circle cutting but I don’t understand how cutting 30” circles on a drill press platform is safer. Set-up must take a lot. Wes, your jig is the best circle jig I’ve seen. I’ve made and tried similar ones but I’m making this one tomorrow!

fislee there is no need to remove the riving knife. I would have left mine on but I have a thin kerf diablo blade in my table saw and it doesnt allow me to use my riving knife.

Wes Hamstra thanks for the response, I'm cautious of using a table saw and always want to make sure I use it correctly and give it the respect it needs to be safe. I'll give this jig a go and see how I get on. Greetings from Wales, UK.
