How to Cut a Rubber Watch Strap

WHY DO THEY MAKE WATCH BANDS SO LONG!??😡

Just bought a seiko turtle and like the strap but it’s too long. It’s got a curved end which is the same circumference as a one penny coin. Think I’ll clamp it to work bench and trim with a new blade in my knife.

I tried this and all went well until I had the same problem as the author - i just needed to do a bit of trimming to get some jagged sections clean at the end, but never got happy with my work. SO...I looked over and saw my bench grinder with a fine-wheel on it. I let it get to speed and very slowly let the grinder clean up the curve and any ragged sections. It worked perfectly. I was really afraid of melting, etc. No problem whatsoever.

Make sure to use a fresh blade for a clean cut, use a scotch pad to smooth the edges 👍🕑

Do you know where I can find a 9 inch rubber strap?

It was certainly easy to cut my strap with a knife but the result is really ugly. It doesn't really cut clean. I'll try some rougher sanding paper but my initial test result with fine paper was that the rubber is quite soft for sanding.
