Fashion designer and online instructor Angela Wolf shows the first variation of the basic A line skirt. She demonstrates how to cut the pattern on the bias. She uses Brother International Corporation's THE Dream Machine® 2 sewing machine to stitch thin seam allowances allowing the skirt to drape beautifully without looking lumpy. Omg I never knew this kind of way to cut the skirt’s like that. Thank you so much for this tip! I notice two skirt did came out like the one you where showing us the two pieces strips. Yes was alway having a side puff out slightly on my hip… thank you so much it’s really explain it’s.💖💖💖💖

How do you determine the extra yardage you need for bias cut?

Lay your pattern pieces on a cutting board like the board was fabric width. Measure the front and the back. The pattern needs to be a full width front and back pattern. Fabric will be right side up in a single layer. Tape measure is needed. "Seam Work" April 30, 2019 RU-vid Channel has more ideas about bias sewing.

These skirts hug the dress forms beautifully. Is that because they are cut on the bias? So this is the same pattern you used in the A line skirt video? They just look so different.

Angela, not sure I understood how the 45 degree angle was done. How did you determine the angle?

Hi Lisa, 45 degrees from the grainline and then the fabric is 45 degrees from the selvage. The new 45 degree marking on the pattern is the new grainline. Line that up with the grainline on the fabric
