It should be noted that I am not an expert here by any means but I figured this could be an interesting project to give a try as it teaches me (potentially) a lot of new skills! The design is all my own with some concepts taken from others I have seen. The 3D rendering is merely a proof of concept for calculating the volume of each pontoon, not so much what the final prototype may look like in the end.

if you're in the midwest, Menards should carry this. I'm thinking of making a small fishing float and covering it in fiberglass or a heavy fabric.

Just saw, NICE cuts, much better than the saw did for that material.

OOO yes, the saw did its job don't get me wrong but the hotwire REALLY helps. I see it being used for more than just the paddleboard (with a few mods maybe)

Looking at a can of Super 77, it states right on the front it can be used for foam. Have you seen or read somewhere that its not good for XPS foam in particular?

Found this video which has great info. Good to see Super 77 won and didnt melt the foam. I think the key is to let the fumes vent off before sandwiching together and also dont apply too much to one spot. I think by "foam" they meant more like foam rubber, the stuff in seats etc. On XPS foam, it did "eat" it a little and the HDX stuff was... meh. It worked, but it wasn't as sticky as I had hoped. Worked just fine for cardboard and paper but on the pink foam, which bowed from temp changes, it began to pull apart which caused me some issues.

@@MakeItWithCalvin Strange. Mine was pretty much an instant bond using Super 77. It would only melt the foam if it was on too thick or dripped on the XPS foam. Otherwise worked wonderfully. We'll see over time if it has issues, it's only been a week since I did the glue up. I think once it's fiberglassed it'll work great, fingers crossed!

Neither Home Depot or Lowe's carries 2" extruded polystyrene here... Only up to 1". I guess it's because I live in the South and we rarely get below freezing. 😕
