Thanks Patti! I think she's such a genuine woman...she just glows. I love watching her videos because not only does she know exactly what shes talking about, but she always brings her fun and spunky personality to them as well. People buy wigs for many reasons but many people looking for wigs aren't feeling the best about themselves and for some, hair loss is a side effect of a much bigger medical issue. Patti's bright light makes the entire subject so much less depressing and stressful. She talks about wigs and hair loss in such an upbeat way, like it's normal... because it is normal and there isn't a single thing to be insecure about!! No victim mentality here and I really appreciate and admire that about her. Thank you Patti, you are a beautiful lady and so much fun to watch. I'm sure that you have touched so many lives in a positive way. 💗💗💗
THANK YOU THANK YOU PATTI! You rescued my expensive wig, and my self esteem, because I have tried for 4 months to find the perfect wig, and have barely ever gone out in that time due to not having one that was presentable. Now I can fix 2 of my wigs due to your videos.
Patti, You must be an angel sent from heaven! Where on earth could we ever learn these incredible methods and tricks? You work miracles for us, and we LOVE YOU for it! THANK YOU! By the way, your technician, Ginger, is a treasure. She helped me so very much with tons of info, and tons of patience. She is great. Sincerely, Pam B.
This is brilliant! Patti, you are our hero! thank you so much for helping us wig wearing folks. I can't find anyone who wants to style wigs so I am a DIY type and you have made my day! God bless!
Patti, you are amazing and have such a sweet way about you. Thank you so much for your videos. I have learned a lot, especially about cutting bangs and thinning a wig. Love you! 💜
Best bangs I have ever seen. I have had since high school many many years ago. I have tried so many times on myself to make them look like this. I will attempt some of your tricks on myself. Thanks again. You seem to really enjoy your work and it shows.
This is perfect for cutting my OWN bangs. I used this method. And I'm going to use it on 3 toppers. But I'm not using those thinning shears yet. I'm leaving that bit out. I'll stick with the regular scissors. Excellent video. Thank goodness you're on here with all the instructions. Thank you.
I DID IT WITH YOU !!! FANTASTIC!!! You are adorable, cute as can be, so full of pep, vimeo and vigor, love ur energy and knowledge, you and Taz are my go 2 Girls 😘😉Thanks Again, that was fun, my Topper now looks just like my Bio hair use 2 ❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much for that very well explained tutoria. It was exactly what I've been searching for. Simply and beautifully done. I so much appreciate the knowledge you have shared. 😊
Thank you, thank you! This is the best bang cutting tutorial I have seen, and believe me, I have watched a lot of them (bangs are a necessity for me), Your tutorial is very clear. Can't wait to try it.
I too, must have bangs. I'm 63 and have been losing my hair for about a year now. A tie band falls out, when put up in high pony. I'm starting to look & buy a few wigs. I'm by myself, so, I can't use someone's head to trim bangs. I will have to, do on my own head. I trim my bangs now, (I know, the wigs will not, grow back) so, must be very careful.
You really are great. You make it all so easy to follow. You have such a gift. Thank you very much for sharing your expert knowledge and doing it so cheerfully.
Patti you saved my wigs! For some reason I thought low temps would never work. This totally helped me figure out how to put a bump in my wigs with bangs!!
Thank you so much Patty for this! I have unfortunately cut mine straight across and am now regretting it, but will know for the next one! Love your breezy tutorials...you are a legend!
Hi Eve! So sorry about your wig. Hopefully your next one will turn out the way you want it🥰 It's always a trial-and-error process with wigs, we find. You can refer back to our videos anytime you need a refresher!💕
I also use thinning shears to trim bangs. takes a while, but it gives great ends. for example, I trim Tori's (ROP) bangs with thinning shears. no goofs and no choppy looking.
Thx you so much for posting this......I have learned so much....and less afraid to purchase a wig that has more hair than I need. I love all the blonde wigs but I just can't wear it close to my skin, I need a light brown framing my face and all around my hair line then have blonde highlights.
Share Smithwick I am the same way. If I don't have a darker base then it just doesn't look right. And when wearing a wig or hairpiece, how you feel with it on is more important than what it looks like-in my opinion. You could have the most natural wig in the world but if you don't feel right when it's on, that will instantly give it away. I've had an impossible time finding a style with straight across bangs in a brilliant blonde color with a shadow root and I've surrendered to the fact that I'm going to have to alter the them a little, chances are im never going to be satisfied with one right out of the box. A few options... If you can't find a rooted blonde (synthetic), then purchase the the cut and overall blonde color that suits you best. Hair color doesn't work on synthetic but you can create a shadow root yourself. If you're nervous you will mess up ty our can always have your stylist do it. I enjoy doing it myself and so I use root cover-up spray that you can buy from the the drugstore. I usually go for light brown or dark blonde and use short sweeping motions to get a natural look. And it washes right out if you make a mistake. I've seen others use acrylic paint and permanent marker to do a permanent shadow root as well. Note- with synthetic hair you can always go darker but you cannot really go lighter so always start with the lighter shade and add the dark root. If you can find the rooted color but not the right cut, you can always cut the bangs and style like Patty does here. Ask yourself what you feel least confident doing yourself (adding the root vs cutting the style) get the wig that comes with what you're most nervous doing. I hope that makes sense. That way you have the best chances and least amount of stress customizing the wig of your dreams! Good luck💗
Not only are you a fabulous teacher you are very talented! I'm a bang girl. I do my best but my bangs never come out like yours. I have nobody locally who is comfortable cutting wigs. Perhaps I were to purchase a wig from your shop, you'd be able to cut a bang in for me. It seems that there are more wigs without bangs and my bangs are my Kryptonite, if ya know what i mean! ❤
It's definitely harder to find styles with bangs. I'm so glad to hear you've been adding bangs yourself. Unfortunately, I can't add bangs without having the person sit right in front of me and that is just to make sure that they are cut to the perfect length and density. 🥰
Very nice. It would be nice if you would explain that you’re cut at an angle when you pull hair straight up It’s hard to follow. When you say pie piece are you implying it’s a triangle?
PS I looked and saw some thumbs down, not 2 worry I will pray for all people ,even those who cant see past their own short Cummings... " You are Awsome "❤
So happy to be able to provide these tutorials so others can learn to customize their wigs.😊 However, we always recommend that if you aren't comfortable with cutting them yourself, then find a stylist that is comfortable working with wigs. It may take some searching to find one, but they are out there and definitely worth finding so your wig won't accidentally get damaged. Best of luck!!
Great video! What is the exact name of the curling iron you're using and where can I purchase it? I've bought others and they scorched my synthetic wig.
This video was from 7 years ago so unfortunately, that curling iron is no longer made. Here is a styling tool that you might be interested in: www.wigsbypattispearls.com/tresstech-cool-flow-dual-styler-by-tressallure-preorder.html.
Hi Patti, thank you so much, this is just what I needed. I’m losing my hairline and only need bangs. I bought some from godivassecret that I think will work if I can thin them. My question is this, the length on the bangs is perfect out of the box. So I absolutely don’t want to cut any length just thin. Would I then just pull them up by section and cut back to the longest piece and then thin with thinning shears as you did? In other words just omit the length cutting. I know this is a silly question but I’m scared to death of ruining them. Thanks again
Hi Lisa, there isn't a certain amount that you need to cut. It all depends on your taste to how long or short you want the bangs. Once you pull the pie sections up you just eyeball it to try to get the right amount on each one. It doesn't have to be exactly the same since this is dirty bangs and not straight bangs.
Hi Christine! You can definitely do this technique on a non-lace front wig or topper! It is safe to pin through wefts, velvet ear tabs, or nape. It is best not to pin through a lace front at all, because there is a risk that it will stretch, tear, or leave a permanent hole in the lace. While this is something Patti does on the lace of some of her demonstration wigs, you definitely want to avoid pinning through the lace on any wig that you want to maintain quality of long-term.😊 If you do wish to cut bangs on a lace front wig, you can safely pin through the ear tabs for excellent security.
Patty, your tutorial's are the best! I have learned so much, which has allowed me to enjoy wearing wigs long after chemo has ended. Please tell me what wig you are wearing in today's (published June 28, 2016-how to cut dirty bans) tutorial?...and does it come in a grey shade?
