I'm gonna do mine as well. I didn't buy a screen door with my new vinyl patio door, because the original aluminum one is still in great shape. Need to take an inch off however it's doesn't have screws. It's probably just pressure fit together.

How about measuring the distance from the ends where the holes are and then use those same distances after you cut it down.

Could probably get away with not taking corner brackets off the top strip?

Question can you use the cut off piece the old one and use it as a template for where the screw holes go

Not exactly perfect work. That extra drilling looks rather flimsy and I wonder how soon the contraption will start to separate.

Do you have a special blade on mitre box to cut aluminum?
