PERFECT!!! I let the wife talk me into doing new countertops myself. The cutting of said countertops looked like a daunting task until I watched the video. Your method is simple in execution, and with you leaving in the little "gotchas" or mistakes you made lets me avoid the same problems. Double thumbs up for a great video! Thanks so much!

Mistake #3 - you had the saw set to full depth. That only creates more resistance. That is one of the major reasons the blade got stuck at the end. You blade depth should be only deep enough so that the tooth gullet barely protrudes from the other side.

I know nothing about this so I didn't understand what the mistakes were. I think I got enough to cut my counter (hopefully). Thanks for posting this video. In my world, no one will help. I need things like this done, and all I have to go on is the RU-vid videos. I will say one thing though, I much prefer the videos where there is a human talking. I'm doing this because...this goes like this...this was wrong because...see right here--it should have been different...or don't do it this way because, etc... It helps me to understand what people are doing if they explain to me what i'm watching.

I’ve found that using a regular blade on the saw works better than the fine tooth. As long as you tape the cut line you shouldn’t get any chipping or tare outs, and it cuts so much easier!

nice work and nicely done video. I have 2 questions as I have to do the same project in a couple of weeks. 1) Looks like a corded Circular Saw. Is it 13, 14 or 15 Amps? I will need to buy one for this project and want to make sure I get one with enough power. I am sure my 18 volt cordless won't be able to to the Job. 2) What blade did you use? 24, 40 or 60 teeth?
@masterofnone
@masterofnone 6 лет назад
Mapi_Channel I have done this cut with a Ryobi 18v on other time works fine. Just have a fully charged battery. For the video I had the blade came with the saw. I believe it is 24t . I strongly suggest getting 60T for much better results.

I have a question i'm having trouble getting answered. I have an L shaped counter so I need to cut for a corner. Now i'm pretty sure i should do a 45 degree angle cut on both pieces and meet in the corner right? The IKEA instructions say to only do straight cuts. Can I do a 45 degree angle cut without messing up the counter?
@masterofnone
@masterofnone Год назад
yes you can. it is harder to get this angle cut perfect. But it is ok to do . It will help if you have a track saw
