I am a glazier/glass cutter, if you try this then after you run the cut as shown with your thumb turn over the glass but don't make the 4 cuts to the circle yet, do the thumb pressure thing again and you will here the glass click again, push all around the perimeter again then make the 4 cuts. this gives you a perfect edge with no chips. have fun.

I needed to cut a circular piece of glass for a hanging light to keep out mud wasps. I bought the circular cutter online and picked up a glass plate and straight-edge cutting kit from The Home Depot. I had a picture frame with a broken glass plate which I planned to use as practice and break in the blades. Following these instructions, my very first cut came out so well I ended up using it as my final circle! Thanks for the tut!

How long does the carbide tip last on a carbide wheel cutter? Is there way to sharpen the wheel? How do I know I have the right amount of pressure? I think I may be applying too much pressure, or maybe the cutter is worn? I only used the cutter to cut like 5 feet of cuts. Thanks for the great video.

it's beautiful circle with fine edges (yes, it's still sharp and should be sanded, but the edge is still even which is great). Only thing that stops me from ording this tool right away is, that every tutorial shows the glass has to be sliced around the circle. is it possible to do it without it and preserve glass - with circular opening?

Not bad Mike. One thing I do when cutting circles is after breaking the scribe all the way around, I flip the glass over and put pressure down on the opposite side to ensure the cut is complete on both sides. Another technique I use in removing the falloff is on scribe from the circle edge to the edge of the sheet, snap, gently pull apart at the break thus causing the circle to drop out cleanly.

Good one! now I have a bit of a challenge for you, I need to cut about 6-8 glass rounds roughly 6" diameter, and these need 2 to 3 holes drilled through them about 1/4" and 1/2" diameter, they are to be replacements for the broken/missing glass on some antique fire alarm box mechanisms, the holes are for the winding knob, the activator lever and a resin grab knob usually (they vary a little from each other depending on what decade they were made and model) Do you have any videos I missed showing drilling holes like these?

@tiredfingers99 Well it depends on a lot of factors, but on avg mine last a year or better. And it gets used a lot everyday. There is know way to fix a wheel, order a new head. and the pressure thing just take practice, the more you do the better you get. You can have to much pressure, not enough and just right, but its just a feel for the cutting.

Can anyone help me ... I have a 8 mm thick clear glass.... out of this, 8 mm 5 mm thickness has to be of 42 mm and the rest of the thickness of 3 mm should be of 35 mm. a step glass to be put in a 3 mm steel plate with a 355 mm diameter hole and have a flat surface after putting the glass. Its for a inground burial light. awaiting for expert's opinion...

Not very easy to do. Cut like a regular circle, and run it out around the glass, then flip it over and do it again. You have to cut both sides of the glass. Your two cuts must be directly over the other cut or it will not work. An advanced cut, not for a beginer.
