Great videos!! I'm glad I found someone new to CNC like me so I can actually learn some lessons along the way. Neck still looks great! I actually like the final result. Not perfect, no, but what in life ever is. Keep it up.
Another great episode. When learning anything new, you learn as much from your mistakes as you do from your success. I always say, I never make the same mistake twice, I always come up with a new one, lol.
thanks for the video!! hoping i find the video where you profile the back of the neck. Im thinking you use a molding toolpath.. trying to find all the info i can on profiling tool paths 2.5D so i can use Vcarve pro.
You're not the first to have this happen. I can vouch for that 😂. We don't learn if we don't make mistakes. Glad to see you're not one of the "purists" and embraced the CNC.
Yeah it was a bummer for sure. An excellent learning experience! I actually milled off the headstock plate and replaced it. I just couldn’t stand looking at it.
It's a shame about the burn spots. One thing you could do would be to mill off the head stock plate and glue on a new one. Will you also need to mill the truss rod channel a bit deeper sense you are going to resurface the top of the neck blank? As long as we learn from out mistakes then it is not really a failure.
That is exactly what I did. I just couldn’t stand looking at those spots anymore 😁 and yes I took off about .003 off the neck surface so I still need to deepen the truss Rod slot with a round chisel.
